# Before you start

**Requirements**

- [Lslib/Divine](https://github.com/Norbyte/lslib) (Vortex should have suggested/installed this for you!)

**Recommendations**

- *Use a clean install of the game to avoid issues*
- Delete lingering mods in `Data\Generated` and `Data\Public`
- ***BACKUP*** and then delete `Users\yourUserName\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\` **(Your saves and settings, *****BACK IT UP!*****)**

**Bonus (Totally Optional)**

- Skip using the launcher by adding the following launch option to Steam: `--skip-launcher`&#x20;
- Load your last save on start by adding the following launch option to Steam: `--continueGame`&#x20;
- If you use both, separate them with a space, ie: `--skip-launcher --continueGame`&#x20;
- Install [ReShade](https://reshade.me/) and choose a preset ( I recommend [Clarity Plus](https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1526) )&#x20;

# Installation

***If using a controller DO NOT install optional mods!***

1. Click `Add to Vortex` above
2. Select a profile to install the list on
3. Click `Install Now` and wait until it is complete&#x20;
4. **MOUSE AND KEYBOARD USERS: **Install optional mods
5. `Elevate` and `Deploy` when the install is complete (This may be in the bell menu)
6. Enjoy the game!

# Troubleshooting&#x20;

## Update your mods:

1. Go to the `Mods` section of Vortex Mod Manager ( on the left panel )
2. Click the `Check for Updates` button ( on the panel above listed mods )
3. Find a mod in the list with an orange arrow pointing down beside it ( to the right of the title )
4. Click the orange arrow
5. Click `Elevate` ( *only* `Deploy` if you don't see `Elevate` ) and wait until finished
6. Repeat for each mod that has an arrow beside it
7. Redeploy ( see steps below )

## Redeploy your mods:&#x20;

1. Go to the `Load Order` section of Vortex Mod Manager ( on the left panel )
2. Click `Refresh List` button ( on the top panel above your load order) and wait until it finishes
3. Click `Purge Mods` button ( on the top panel above your load order) and wait until it finishes
4. Click `Deploy Mods` button ( on the top panel above your load order) and wait until it finishes&#x20;
