# The Winchester Pub Challenge Rules:

0\.  Don't take it too seriously, it's for fun just to challenge yourself. Use whatever additional mods and settings you like.  Use the Creative Menu to award yourself with whatever tier 1 armor you want.

1\. You start with no skills, no buffs, no item mods, nothing in your tool belt, and an empty inventory.  Throw all of your starting gear away. &#x20;

2\. Everything you loot within the POI is fair game.  You are allowed to spend skill points, and use any items you find as you earn them on the fly. &#x20;

3\. No building, no crafting, and no tool usage.  Picking up and placing items (like chairs) is fine.

4\.  You can leave the building, but must remain within the confines of the POI area.  *Don't just kite the zombies outside though, that's boring.*

5\.  Choose your own adventure: &#x20;

A. Easy: Do a Clear at night with Adventurer Difficulty settings.

B. Moderate: Do a Fetch+Clear on Warrior Difficulty at night. &#x20;

C. Hard: Do an Infested Clear at night on Insane Difficulty. &#x20;

D. Insane: Infested Clear on Insane difficulty during horde night. &#x20;

# Main features

It's the Winchester Pub from the movie **Shaun of the Dead**.  You get to reenact the premise of the film, by trying to survive the night of a Zombie Apocalypse in a Pub. &#x20;

# How to start the Challenge:

*There are pictures above showing the Vortex Installation process.  YouTube a how to use Vortex Collections if you get stuck, I promise it's easy.*

1\. Download/Install/Update Vortex, and subscribe to this Collection.  Inside of Vortex, within the Collection section, download the mods, install the mods, enable the mods, deploy the mods, and hit play.&#x20;

2\. Go to the Prefab Editor.  Search for the Winchester POI, and Playtest it. &#x20;

3\. Go to the trader and request a quest. &#x20;

*Optional: Pause the game and turn on Queen's "Don't Stop me Now!"*

4\. Start the quest and enter the Pub. &#x20;

5\. Don't die.

6\. Complete the quest objectives.

7\. You win!  The grand prize is a digital pat on the back from FNS.  \*Pat \*Pat, "Good job buddy." &#x20;

### For the YouTube Showmen and hardcore got-something-to-prove-nutters:

If you want to summon a horde night as you start the Challenge, you need to do a small amount of prep work.  Install the Optional Mod "**Custom Blocks Pack**".  Manually download and **drag** this zip folder into Vortex.  In Vortex, install the mod, enable the mod, deploy the mod, hit play.  This will not work in the Prefab Editor Playtest, so you will need to perform RWG, play in a real game, and teleport to the POI.  Open up the Creative Menu, search for "cbpBloodmoon" block, and place one of these invisible air blocks at the threshold of the Pub. **Set the timer to just prior to 2200, so like 2130**.  YOU MUST WALK THROUGH THAT INVISIBLE BLOCK TO SUMMON THE HORDE!  When next the clock strikes 2200, the horde will spawn. &#x20;

# Why I made this Collection:

I made this Collection to promote the idea of 7D2D YouTube Content Creators using Vortex Collections as a medium to share their Community Challenges with fans and other YouTubers.  I'm hoping people like Glock9, JaWoodle, GNS, Izprebuilt, and others use this system to share their Community Challenges/Mod-Lists.  &#x20;

# Detailed Pre-Installation and Installation Instructions for New Users

0\. This list assumes you know how to use Vortex, can figure it out yourself, or watch a YouTube video to help you through the process.  Vortex used to have issues with 7D2D modding, but currently in 1.0, I have not had any problems.  I don't mind helping as time permits, but you should be able to figure this stuff out for yourself, it isn't hard. &#x20;

1\. To install this Collection, you must have 7 Days to Die already installed on your Windows PC, **and must be on version 1.0**.  **PLEASE SEE THE CHANGE LOG FOR THE CURRENT GAME VERSION!**  There are YT videos on both of those topics.  Google and YouTube are your friends if you are a visual learner.     &#x20;

**This Collection is only for v1.1b4**.  To opt into the Latest Experimental Beta > Go to Steam > Library > 7 Days to Die > press the gearwheel icon to Manage the game > in the gearwheel, click Properties > Betas > and use the dropdown to select the "latest\_experimental - Unstable build" beta.  Download the latest Beta updates, then use Vortex to download the Collection.  Please use the comments section to let me know if you need more assistance with the installation.   &#x20;

2\. I did not need to perform a fresh install of the base game, but if you have issues, you might need to.  With any Mod Collection, it's best practice to perform a fresh install of the base game.  This is especially true if you mess with Overhaul mods, they tend to install dirty and leave issues behind.  This Collection is *not* compatible with Overhaul mods. &#x20;

3\. Before you mod any game, *always* run the game once, to get to the in-game start menu.  This generates files and folder structures you need to mod the game with Vortex.

4\. Turn off Easy-Anti-Cheat (EAC) for 7D2D.  You must completely disable EAC!  EAC cannot even start to run, then ask if you want to turn it off at start up. &#x20;

# **EAC must never run at start up, or this Collection will not function correctly!**

Steam > Library > right-click the 7 Days to Die game > select Properties > General > in the Launch Options section, use the dropdown to select “Show game launcher”. Exit the General screen, hit Play on the 7 Days to Die game, and it will prompt you with the Game Launcher.  If you exclusively play single-player or with small groups on a private server, you can keep EAC disabled permanently for this Collection.

5\. Install Vortex.  Allow Vortex to manage your 7D2D game.  Select the file path you want it to use for mods.  See the pictures in this Collection for example locations.  You don't have to put them there, but that works.  &#x20;

If you already have Vortex installed, make sure it's up to date.  Click the bell icon on the top right of the screen to see if there is an update notice.  Click into the update notification, download the update, and it will prompt you to restart Vortex after the updates has finished installing.  &#x20;

6\. Once you have performed all of the previous directions successfully, hit the "Add to Vortex" button towards the top right on *this page*.  Now open Vortex, make sure you are in the 7D2D game profile, move to the Collections section, and it will prompt you to start downloading this Collection.  If you are on a free Nexus account, you will need to click download on each browser tab one at a time.  If you are on a premium account, it's just one click.  Towards the end of the download process, Vortex will ask you if you are interested in Optional Mods for this Collection.  As the name implies, these are optional add-on mods based on user preference.  **Please see the Optional Mods section of this write-up for amplifying information.** &#x20;

7\. Once the Collection has been downloaded, you want to install all the mods, enable all the mods, and deploy the mod list.  To launch the game, use the Vortex application and press the Play Button on the top left.  Fingers crossed, if you did everything correctly, it should all work without any issues.  If you see an error with EAC, try restarting Vortex and/or your machine.  Mine did this once, I think it was just Vortex being dumb. &#x20;
