# **Before you start**

*Vital information regarding this collection.*

**Requirements**

- Must have Daggerfall installed from [Official Download](https://forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?f=5\&t=2360\&p=27538#p27538)  (or Steam, but DREAM recommends this link, I' have not tested doing it with Steam so I do not recommend it, you're at your own risk)
- Must have Daggerfall Unity Installed from [Github](https://github.com/Interkarma/daggerfall-unity/releases).
- Must have [DREAM](https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/5) installed using the installation pdf file inside the DREAM folder (install it Manually not via Vortex).
- Also install ReShade just like the pdf tells you, it comes with the same folder, just follow the pdf guide.
- After that you should be good to install this Collection.

# **Very Important Instructions**

**READ ALL, VERY IMPORTANT**



**This Collection was based on update 1.1.1 of unity and I made it in the 25th of may 2024.**



I'm making this Collection with the express idea of using it if I ever want to unistall Daggerfall and the mods I use or decide to clean my pc, that being said anyone should feel free to use this collection as I believe it provides the best Daggerfall experience for 2024 and probably on to 2025 and longer (as long as you update the mods and unity, and unless new really good mods are created, if thats the case just install them making sure there are no incompatibilities).&#x20;



First of all, know that this collection does **NOT** install **DREAM** (a mod on the nexus, see above), that you'll have to install on your own following the guidelines on the 1rst pdf file provided by said mod.&#x20;

After installing DREAM you can then, and **ONLY** then install this collection. Making sure you go over all mods (in game) and to their settings and set the DREAM preset loaded on all mods that have one, after that you may change settings in said mods to your liking, the main thing being setting key binds for some, (for exemple the Torch mod, bestiary and the crouch-sneak mod.&#x20;

After that you should make a character (or use the one you made for setting up DREAM) simply so you can get in game and set your keybinds, I'll leave an image of my keybinds in here (see images above), but remember keybinds/controlls are always a personal matter. Lastly make sure the load order of the mods is decent, I'll also leave mine in an image just for consulting perposes.&#x20;

Also **VERY** important if you are not accustomed to modding (and even if you are) you should also probably check the mod recomendations on the DREAM nexus page, I based this mod collection on those mods plus some more, so to know the best load order and what mods offer presets you should check there, that being said if you follow what I've said here you shouldn't have any problems.&#x20;

**ALSO VERY IMPORTANT **almost forgot, some of these mods, were not exactly made for Vortex by some creators, I believe, it is in this case, 8 mods or so, which means some of these mods, those mods, will not be installed by the collection even tho it says so, the fix is **VERY EASY**, you should go to the folder where your Daggerfall Unity mods are installed, there you will find some ".dfmod" files what you have to do is simply copy them (only the ".dfmod" files) and paste them into the "Mods" folder that should be above them (**don't pull them out, just copy and paste them**, otherwise Vortex will be confused), for me this folder is in: "D:\Daggerfall Unity\v1.1.1-test\DaggerfallUnity\_Data\StreamingAssets" inside this folder are many folders including the said "Mods" folder. For you it might be in a different disc but it will always be inside the folder where you installed Daggerfall Unity.



After all that you should be set to enjoy the game. Any mod you want to update you should follow said mod's update guide (if existing in their nexus page). If you want to add any mods feel free to, but remember to check for incompatibilities on their nexus page, and remember have fun!



# **Best practices**

- *PS: If you are like me and enjoy having your games in a library such as Steam, you may try to install DFU using the steam Daggerfall Files, but as I said DREAM does not recommend that, so what I do, and what I would recommend for thos who like that is you install Daggerfall just like I said using the Official Download and then install DFU, after that and only if you use or want to use GOG Galaxy you go to "Owned Games" press the "+" on the top next to "Filter" which says "Add Games & Friends" then "Add game manually" and write "Daggerfall Unity" after that just "Manage installation" and link the executable which is inside the Daggerfall Unity folder you installed. This way you can have Daggerfall Unity as a game in your GOG library which will also show you your ingame hours. *
