# Description

Daggerfall is famous for it's enormous size, but if you play it like the developers intended you'll be fast travelling to every location, making the size of the world lose its impact.

With this collection of mods, walking or riding manually to your destinations becomes both feasible and enjoyable, assuming you like a little bit of downtime. I would say these mods are the most important:

- "Travel Options": Basically allows fast-forwarding while travelling on foot, so long distances are bearable.
- "Basic Roads":  Adds roads between locations so you aren't moving through untamed wilderness. Travel Options includes an ability to follow roads (default key: F).
- "Wilderness Overhaul": Makes the wilderness more visually varied and thus enjoyable to travel through.
- "World of Daggerfall": Makes terrain more vertically varied, and adds bandit camps and other things to encounter along the road, giving you stuff to stop and check out... and fight!

Some other mods are recommended but optional, like Climates & Calories.

# Before you start

Note that some (usually old) DFU mods aren't packaged such that they install into the DaggerFallUnity\StreamingAssets\Mods folder once installed, and have to be manually moved there to appear in the active mods list in the DFU launcher. You can do this via Vortex by:&#x20;

1. Right-clicking the installed mod in Vortex, selecting Open Local Files.&#x20;
2. If you see a .dfmod file in the folder that opens, right-click somewhere in the folder view, then select New -> folder, and name the new folder Mods.&#x20;
3. Then move the .dfmod file into this Mods folder.&#x20;
4. Finally, deploy in Vortex, and confirm that you want to save changes (this will delete the previously installed copy of the .dfmod file that isn't in the Mods folder).&#x20;

Should the mod be updated you might have to do this again.
