# Description

A tested, nearly click-to-play collection of mods that offer a playable Eagle Rising experience on 1.2.11 using the Europe map, as well as adding as much as possible in terms of quality-of-life features, inspired by other popular mod lists of recent years.

The collection aims to be stable and balanced, while including mods that improve the combat/war experience and reduce tedium. I made this in recognition of others who have in the past made similar lists that I have benefitted from. You can fine-tune many of the changes the mods implement, but the collection is designed to run fine even if you don't alter anything.

\- Economy progression, playing as trader;
\- Smithing;
\- Progression up to clan tier 6 and serving as a mercenary/vassal for multiple kingdoms, reaching a full stack of companions, marrying, having children, having your own kingdom, participating in wars and having your own fiefs;
\- Finishing Arzagos/Istiana + conspiracy quests.

# Before you start

- **IMPORTANT:** Make sure to add BLSE to Vortex and use it to launch. You will need to enable it as a tool for the game and use the LauncherEx version. Everything else (meaning, the actual, regular mods) is on Nexus and should work with a one click install on a fresh profile using Vortex. - You may need to unblock DLLs. Please see the instructions [here](https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/397), or [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Bannerlord/comments/15bb6zz/easy_way_to_unblock_multiple_dll_files_when/).
- **When launching, make sure to enable all modules in the BLSE launcher**. Enabling them in Vortex doesn't necessarily enable them in BLSE. You can also refresh them to get a new auto-sorted load order, but this shouldn't be necessary.
- **It's recommended to use a new, separate profile. There are many larger mods this could conflict with.**
- **Skip the tutorial, or you might need to use the cheat console to teleport to the raiders during the tutorial.**

# Customizing your playthrough

- **It is recommended** to access Mod Options and configuring the HP threshold for Artems Lively Animations to 20 or lower, or you'll find yourself occasionally starting battles with the injured walk state.
- **It is recommended** to configure your preferences for Better Time in Mod Options. Once you get used to playing with it, you won't be able to imagine how you ever got by without it. You can configure the slow motion function to speed up time, giving you an easy way to toggle speed-ups in battles.
- **It is recommended** to take a look at Adjustable Bandits under mod options to select how many bandits you want to run into. **Additionally, you can delete bandits and hideouts from the map, which can speed up your game if it starts getting slow during the endgame.** Lots of bandit parties get stuck due to the custom map.
- You can disable the RBM Tournament module, from RBM Configuration in the main menu, since Arena Overhaul takes care of tournaments. That said, leaving it on doesn't seem to cause issues at the moment, so **this is optional**.
- You can configure UltimateCAP to give you a procedural or fixed boost to the limits for parties and companions in the Mod Options menu. If you don't configure it the game runs as normal.
- You might find that there are too few wars going on at any given time. You can adjust this behavior by modifying the settings in Diplomacy in the Mod Options menu.
- You can change the settings in RTS Camera to use the slow motion mode as a toggleable speed-up. This can come in very handy when you're trying to wrap up fights.

# Key changes

*What the collection changes from the base game*

- You play during the time of the Roman Empire with the world map changed to Europe.
- You can control your units for the duration of the entire battle from a top-down view, like the one used for formation placement at the start of battles. You can press L to access it. The \[ , ] , ' and ; keys are also used for RTS camera. You can even control your troops when you are injured.
- Armor, as well as hit location matter a lot more. Units survive longer. Posture triggers disarms, partial damage penetration through blocks, or staggers. You can disable posture by configuring RBM in-game.
- If you die in a battle, you can control another unit in the battle and continue controlling your army. You can press L and E for the relevant interactions.
- Smithing is no longer tedious!
- You can use Ctrl+M on the world map to promote specialists.
- Diplomacy is overhauled, allowing for alliances and war exhaustion. War exhaustion causes the losing side to offer to abandon a conflict and pay war reparations and even restitute settlements they took if the imbalance is too high.
- You can bond with your horse, making it more effective. You can start this process by visiting the stables in a town and naming your horse. Once you do, and you reach a certain bond level, you can press Q to call your horse if you're dismounted.
- By default, leveling is adjusted so you can reach the last perk by having 5 focus points in a stat. To compensate, attributes matter less. You can customize this under Mod Options.
- The intro and tutorial are skipped. You can customize this under Mod Options.
- NPCs are likely to surrender when victory is extremely unlikely.
- You have more options related to companions. Just starting up and low on funds? You can recruit a townsperson from any tavern! You might also be asked to promote a troop that performed very well during a battle to a companion, after the battle, when you visit a town.&#x20;
- Companions now tutor each other and gain passive XP by learning from their seniors.
- Armies that are outside the original encounter range, but not by too much, may opt to join in, on your side or against you.
- You can play as another clan member at any time. However, it's recommended you only use this for specific battles to avoid glitches related to income and inventory. You will sometimes be prompted to play as the leader of one of your parties or caravans during battles.
- You can auto-resolve hideout battles!
- Improved character customization. You can also recustomize and rename NPCs, including companions from their right-click card.
- Uses music from Total War: Attila.&#x20;
- Arenas allow you to participate as a team.
- Before you are part of a kingdom, if you have clan parties, you can still summon them to your army.
- You can progress time faster.
- Achievements still work!

# Known issues

*For most crashes, you can try using the "Attempt to continue" button, and it will work*

\- Using Open Source Armory can cause issues. So far the reported causes have been smithing (possibly related to Better Smithing) and RBM patch files.

\- You might get random crashes due to the scope of the changes; in most cases you can click continue in the exception window and it will work fine. Particular instances I'm aware of are when your clan is first established in campaign after rescuing your sibling, as you get your popups for your brother and sister growing up and skipping rounds too fast in tournaments.

\- The encyclopedia can lock up after typing more than 2 characters in search. It eventually works, though.

\- Due to the map, bandits and raiders can get stuck. Escort caravan quests can fail to path and auto-resolve as soon as you start them. I doubt there's a fix for this unless the Europe map gets updated. If you're playing on campaign mode, this also affects how well conspiracy quests work - in essence, for about half of them you won't find the raider parties or hideouts. You can use the Adjustable Bandits page in Mod Options to reset bandits, which will speed up your world map and alleviate the issue.

\- The "Rebels in \[city]" quests may be bugged.

\- Arena Overhaul may interfere with armies, but I've been unable to confirm this. You can safely disable it if you encounter issues.

\- Battles may encounter rare fatal crashes. Save often!

\- Using Improved Garrisons will negate the party size bonus of having specialists with you (the ones recruitable with Ctrl+M). You can avoid this by putting it above Eagle Rising in the load order.
