### **- Q:** I clicked "Add to Vortex" and this collection doesn't work! **- A:** This is user-error. This collection contains full **III) INSTALLATION** instructions on this exact webpage you are currently viewing. Every single step required to install this collection is found there, and every single step is required to be followed for the collection to work, otherwise your game will not function at all or only partially if you are lucky. **Please follow the III) INSTALLATION instructions.** ### **- Q:** What are the differences between your collections? **- A:** Please see **I) DESCRIPTION -> WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUR COLLECTIONS?** ### **- Q:** Why am I not allowed to install the game within Program Files? I have installed many games there before! **- A:** **The Windows operating system directly places special administrative requirements on the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders** to protect them. **This means programs require special permissions to make changes to games/programs installed within Program Files, which CANNOT be granted to Vortex.** Additionally, the Nexus staff members directly state you should never run Vortex as an administrator. An analogy of this is as such: **Imagine you hire a maid to clean your home, but you do not give her a key or a way to enter your home. How does she clean?** The most she could really do is just sweep your porch. Sure, you can play a game that is installed within Program Files as completely vanilla, or you can MANUALLY install mods into the game since you yourself are the administrator and it will work, but **how does your mod manager manage mods for a game when it doesn't have full permissions to do so? It will literally break your game.** It could prevent your game from launching, it could cause crashing issues, or it could cause mods to only be half functional which could create game-breaking bugs. ### **- Q:** Why do I have to click "Download" on every single individual mod? **- A:** This is addressed in **III) INSTALLATION -> BEFORE YOU BEGIN**. You are a Non-Premium Nexus user. Premium Nexus users have this entire process automated. Nexus needs to make money somehow. If you do not have Nexus Premium, then I recommend you either pay for Premium (you can just pay for one month and cancel if you want to) or I would recommend you download [New New Vegas NON-PREMIUM](https://next.nexusmods.com/newvegas/collections/vuadnp) which is a much smaller collection that is directly designed for a much faster installation for Non-Premium users. ### **- Q:** Does your collection allow achievements? **- A:** **Yes.** ALL of my collections allow ALL achievements (though this DUST collection will obviously not allow you to obtain quest-based achievements for obvious reasons). My [Tale of Two Wastelands collection](https://next.nexusmods.com/newvegas/collections/3fs9zx) only allows the New Vegas achievements, but not the FO3 achievements. I wish I could change this, but I cannot. Remember that TTW is a mod FOR Fallout New Vegas, so we do not launch FO3 to play New Vegas, so therefore Steam does not recognize that we play FO3 at all. ### **- Q:** Can't you just upload your entire collection in a single zipped file for an easier installation? **- A:** **NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!** Nexus Collections is a **COLLECTION** of mods from the Nexus. **I do not own 98-99% of the mods in the collection.** Some are mine, yes, but the vast majority are not. Therefore, I absolutely cannot take all of these mods, zip them, and upload them ANYWHERE, and neither are you allowed to do the same; **that is ILLEGAL!** I or you would be stealing the work of thousands of mod authors if we did this, robbing them of their credit, their downloads, and directly going against the mod authors' permissions. ### **- Q:** How can I fix extreme in-game visual issues such as red exclamation points (missing textures), severely bugged creature/NPC animations, severely distorted/discolored faces or bodies, or etc.? **- A:** Please see **IV) TROUBLESHOOTING -> GRAPHICAL ISSUES**. ### **- Q:** How can I fix crashing when I launch the game, load a character save, enter a specific area, or etc.? **- A:** Please see **VI) TROUBLESHOOTING -> CRASHES** or **III) INSTALLATION -> PANIC BUTTON.** ### **- Q:** Is \_\_\_\_\_ mod compatible? **- A:** Please see **VI) ADDITIONAL CONTENT.** This will very likely answer your question. If you are still unsure for any reason, then you may certainly leave a comment. ### **- Q:** Why is my mouse jumping around in the Pip-Boy menus? **- A:** If your mouse is jumping around in the Pip-boy, then it's simply because your computer isn't able to render the high-resolution icons and font fast enough. If you want to fix this, then you can simply open the **"Mods"** tab in Vortex and search for "Consistent Pip-Boy" and **disable all "Consistent Pip-Boy Icons" mods.** ### **- Q:** How can I completely disable ALL nudity? **- A:** Open Vortex and go to your **"Mods"** tab. In the top search bar, search for **"VLK Body"**. Disable all mods labelled as **"(VLK Body)"**. These are ALL of the mods in the entire collection that affect the player character and all of the NPCs, so **disabling all "VLK Body" mods will completely remove all nudity.** Unfortunately, this will revert all bodies, faces, hair, and etc. to be completely vanilla. **I do not recommend downloading your own body/face/hair/et. mods.** I strongly believe that modding bodies and faces is the hardest challenge when modding Fallout, and you will quickly find that you will not achieve expected and desired results by modding on your own. ### **- Q:** I am not able to move except for when I run or jump. Why? **- A:** The "Atomic!" perk is currently bugged and I am seeking a solution. Open the Portable Cheat Terminal -> SPECIALs, Skills, Perks, & Traits -> Perks -> Wasteland Perks -> Radiation Perks -> **Atomic! - Rem**. This will remove the perk. You can then add another perk of your choosing to compensate for the loss if you'd like. If that does not work, then try loading a previous save, **especially load a save when you alternatively are or are not standing in radiation** and remove the **"Atomic!"** perk. ### **- Q:** Why can't I regenerate my Action Points (AP)? **- A:** You most likely picked the **"Near Death Experience"** trait. Please read the trait. **"Your action points only regenerate when you have less than 50% health.** *When your health is below 25%, VATS costs half as many action points. Finally, when your health is below 10%, each kill will restore all of your action points."* ### **- Q:** The collection is too easy/too hard. ## This collection is essentially a complete remastering of the [DUST Survival Simulator](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57927) mod. I aim to directly upgrade the overall feel of the game without compromising the base DUST overhaul's identity. This collection includes many mods that majorly enhance and modernize the vanilla game across the board with immersion and balance being top priority. This includes sprinting, real-time looting (like FO4), hit markers, dynamic gun spread crosshairs, incredible textures, amazing lighting, a max level of 65,535 (adjustable), improved aiming, and MUCH more! ## WARNING: This collection is designed to be CHALLENGING! ## **NONE of my collections require ANY OTHER collection. Each collection NATIVELY includes all lower tiered collections. I have many New Vegas collections, and they're all of course different from one another. ### Default Installation: - A much more thematic main menu is put in place. - Several countless previously unanimated objects are now animated to simulate wind. *(Such as trees, plants, branches, other vegetation, power lines, wooden bridges, hanging cables, tapestry, tents, and more).* - Many glass objects, such as many of the doors throughout the game have been changed from opaque to translucent, so you are able to see through them. - Looting objects is now animated. Additionally, some unique items and quest items have unique animations upon looting them, such as the Platinum Chip, snow globes, skinning of animals for their meat, and more! - Water looks and feels much more realistic inside and out. Underwater vision is blurry without protective eyewear such as goggles, a space suit, or a power suit. Additionally, when you surface from being underwater without protective eyewear, your vision will be briefly blurry. - Campfires now actually burn for a few hours when you use them. - Skill and perk icons are higher resolution and have added detail. - All computer screens and the Pip-Boy screen are much higher resolution. - The HUD is much higher resolution and is extremely customizable. Freely move all HUD elements around wherever you wish and completely hide the individual HUD elements you don't want to see. - The cursor now changes color based on your HUD color. - Menus are much higher resolution. - Practically ALL guns, armors, outfits, containers, clutter, consumables, and the world itself have much nicer collision meshes, textures and graphics. - Interior and outdoor lighting is significantly improved. - When you hover your reticle over items in the game world, there are now descriptions to describe almost every single item in the game. These descriptions can be informative, interesting, or comical depending on the item. - You can see your whole body when you look down in first person *(like Halo).* - The Pip-Boy light is fully customizable, where you are able to individually able to adjust the radius, brightness, and color. - Power armor truly LOOKS like power armor! 3rd person animations when are altered when you have power armor equipped. This includes 3rd person animations with miniguns and the like. - When you have power armor equipped, your Pip-Boy is replaced with a very immersive visor menu (like Fallout 4). - When in 3rd person, the player head now realistically turns and looks at the faces of nearby NPCs. - Throwing weapon animations are drastically improved. - There are now 1st and 3rd person animations when you use common aid items or when you drink certain beverages. - 3rd person animations are now much more authentic. - Melee and reload animations are improved. - When you reload weapons, a magazine will now physically drop on the ground. Enemies are included! - Ragdoll effects are significantly improved, along with stagger animations. - Players and NPCs look much better while still retaining their vanilla look. - Reload animations have been made much more realistic and less clunky. - The path lights in Old World Blues now actually provide light. - Fully operational light switches are added to the interior of buildings and homes. There are light switches in almost every room. *(Some light switches intentionally do not function for purposes of immersion in a nuclear wasteland.)* - Particle effects and explosions are much more realistic. - Explosions on the ground create small craters. - Explosions and energy weapon projectiles now truly emit light. - Holograms in the **Dead Money** DLC emit light. - Consuming drugs and alcohol now have appropriate visual effects related to each drug consumed. - Perks on the Pip-Boy are separated into categories. (Level-up perks, traits, feats, and challenges). - Damage and healing numbers are now shown. You can see exactly how much damage you're doing. This functions very similarly to other RPGs like Borderlands or Diablo. ### Optional: - Auto-distance focusing effect is optionally included to simulate realistic visuals.

### Default Installation: - Gun sounds and explosions are MUCH more realistic. - Ambient music has been added to the Honest Hearts DLC. In the vanilla game, there is no ambient music. - Ambient music from classic Fallout games has been added to the game. - Moving through bushes plays a realistic sound and the volume varies depending on your movement speed. *(i.e., if you're sneaking vs. running)* - Power armor truly SOUNDS like power armor! - Aiming down sights now plays a realistic sound. - Swimming underwater now has sound effects. The rebreather also has a realistic sound when you're underwater. - Jumping has its own sound effects. - Footsteps have more realistic sounds and have many more variations for less repetition. - Many distorted sounds such as NPCs wearing masks have been improved to higher quality.

### Default Installation: - Saving your game has been made significantly more pleasant! **The game now supports MULTIPLE back-up autosaves!** The game also has many other improvements regarding saves. - The max level is set to 65,535. *(Adjustable).* - There are approximately **TRIPLE** the amount of perks of the base game! The perks added very similarly follow the game's intent and seamlessly fit into the game. Also included are perks that are selectable in the level-up screen that require you to be idolized with each individual faction, and these perk effects are respective to the faction! - Picking up snow globes gives you unique perks. - You can equip all attachments available to any weapon all at once and remove them at any time. - You can now bash enemies with an equipped firearm! NPCs can do the same in return! - You can now randomly find the many various ammo types in the game from junk rounds, to buck shot, to hollow point rounds and etc. in containers in the game world, and on rare occasion weapon mods too. - Enemies can actually spawn with attachments on their weapons on rare occasions. - Euclid's C-Finder (AKA Archimedes) is significantly buffed and is much more visually impressive! - There are dynamic crosshairs and hit markers. The crosshairs will dynamically adjust their visual accuracy based on your true accuracy. *(i.e., based on your perks, currently equipped weapon, running vs. standing vs. crouching, and etc.)* - Disarming a shotgun trap now actually gives you a shotgun. - A cheat terminal is added to the aid section in your Pip-Boy, which allows you to add XP, spawn items with ease, edit your SPECIALs, health, and action points and much more. - Gain a perk every level instead of every other level. - Your equipped gun sways with your body as you turn. - Guns have realistic recoil. - Bullets actually have velocity and are affected by gravity! Don't worry, it's not a substantial effect, and I promise it's much more enjoyable! - Aiming is smoother with mouse and controller. - Item condition is now also displayed as an exact numerical value on top of the condition bar. - When you are in irradiated water, you now dynamically receive radiation respective to how deep in the water you are standing. - If the player is in touching distance to a companion, the companion will now slowly walk away. This helps prevent the player from getting stuck. - The Cannibal perk has seen several improvements. Additionally, it now scales with your Survival skill. - The starter packs are now distributed into the world rather than them being directly and ridiculously deposited into your inventory. - **Higher difficulties don't make enemies bullet sponges.** Higher difficulties primarily affect the player's received damage. - The required level of picking locks is entirely removed, **HOWEVER**, picking locks without the level requirement will be increasingly difficult the lower your lockpicking level is. (i.e., you may pick a very hard lock which would normally require 100 lockpicking, but you may pick it at level 25 lockpicking. You just might break 50 bobby pins attempting to do so.) - Ghost People in the vanilla game are a bit too easy to kill because if you "cripple" a limb, then the Ghost People instantly die from dismemberment, even without reducing their health to 0. This is no longer possible. Their limb health is now higher than their base health, so you are now required to kill the Ghost People, then dismember their limbs. - You are able to fill empty soda bottles and the like at any water source to get irradiated, dirty, or purified bottled water from the respective water source. ### Optional: - The **Auto Item Collector** will allow you to automatically loot ammo, weightless aid supplies, weightless crafting materials, bottle caps, NCR money, Legion money, and etc. from corpses and containers (without auto-stealing). The auto-looting is customizable. This will also show you slowly fading text over the corpse/container showing all the loot that was looted for your awareness. - There is a cheating UI element to show the exact unlock position on all locks when you're picking them. You may also have all locked terminals show only 1 password. - Ammo is weightless in hardcore. - You can select an unlimited number of traits.

### **4) CONTROLS:**

### Default Installation: - Pressing **"M"** automatically opens the world map on your Pip-Boy. Pressing **"I"** opens your inventory. - Pressing/holding **"G"** will toss/throw a grenade, throwing spear, or any other throwable in your inventory. Additionally, holding down the attack button with a thrown item equipped (such as a throwing spear) will pause the animation before you throw it, allowing you to aim before you release. - Holding **"H"** on an item in your Pip-Boy will allow you to assign items to an item wheel. Holding **"H"** in-game will open the item wheel to equip/use the items you assigned to the item wheel on the fly. You can do this with aid items, apparel, and weapons. - Pressing **"X"** enables Bullet Time - an added slow-mo feature which drains your Action Points as you use it. - Pressing **"Shift"** while running allows you to sprint by spending Action Points. This also works in water to swim faster. - Pressing **"Backspace"** will now drop the last item picked up. This is extremely useful if the player accidentally picks up a junk item that is undesired. This script will remember up to 10 items, so pressing backspace continually will drop the last 10 items in sequence of each other. - Holding **"Shift"**, then interacting with a locked door that you have the key to or a terminal that you have the password to will allow you to pick the lock or hack the terminal to gain XP. - Holding **"Shift"**, then picking up an item will equip armor or weapons, or instantly consume aid items. - **Ctrl+F** search function has been enabled to find virtually anything in your Pip-Boy. **Ctrl+F** can be used in the level-up screen to search for specific perks, to search your inventory, and to even search for landmarks on the world map. - You can zoom in and out with scoped weapons using the mouse wheel. - You can now press **"Home"** to open a player journal to type and save personal notes in-game. You can navigate the cursor in this menu with the **"PgUp", "PgDn",** and the left and right arrow keys. - You can press **"O"** and **"P"** to inspect your weapon's ammo and condition. This is particularly immersive if you choose to disable certain HUD elements.

### Default Installation: - The overall game functionality and stability is majorly improved from the vanilla game. *(There are significantly fewer unexpected frame drops, fewer bugs, and fewer game crashes.)* - There are countless bug fixes throughout the game. - **REAL-TIME LOOT MENU!** *(Like FO4)* - **Invisible walls are REMOVED!** - The hacking mini game has improvements. - A list of commonly used console commands is automatically added into your Pip-Boy in Data -> Misc. - Weapon Repair Kits are much easier to use. Repair Kits now show up in the list of items to use when you bring up the menu to repair an item. (In the vanilla game you would have to go to the Aid section and use the repair kit, but it would only work on your currently equipped weapon). - Goo and ash piles can be moved with the grab key (**Z**). *(This allows you to grab items underneath the piles).* - There are now objective markers shown to you in the 3D world, rather than only on your compass. - You can fully zoom out of the world map on your Pip-Boy. - The Pip-Boy has much better textures, which makes the world map, and especially the local map much easier to read.

If the game is not launching, or if you're receiving a ton of errors, or unresolved mod conflicts/mod cycles, or etc., then ALMOST ALWAYS it is because Vortex infamously DOES NOT always install collections correctly. Vortex is a finicky and buggy mod manager. It is also certainly possible that you made a mistake during the install. # Before you do anything, make sure that you understand the ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS for this collection; these are nonnegotiable: - Vortex **NEEDS** to be installed on the same drive as your Fallout New Vegas. - Fallout New Vegas **NEEDS** to be installed outside of any and all Windows factory folders. This means that Fallout New Vegas **CANNOT** be installed anywhere within a **"Program Files"** or **"Program Files (x86)"** folder. You should be perfectly safe to use the Discord and Steam game overlays though. - Try reinstalling the collection on a new Vortex profile by reverting to step 6. **You already have all of the mods in the collection installed, so doing this should only take a few minutes!** - An EVEN SAFER but longer method is to reinstall the game entirely and revert to step 2. **The Windows operating system directly places special administrative requirements on the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders** to protect them. **This means programs require special permissions to make changes to games/programs installed within Program Files, which CANNOT be granted to Vortex.** Additionally, the Nexus staff members directly state you should never run Vortex as an administrator. An analogy of this is as such: **Imagine you hire a maid to clean your home, but you do not give her a key or a way to enter your home. How does she clean?** The most she could really do is just sweep your porch. Sure, you can play a game that is installed within Program Files as completely vanilla, or you can MANUALLY install mods into the game since you yourself are the administrator and it will work, but **how does your mod manager manage mods for a game when it doesn't have full permissions to do so? It will literally break your game.** It could prevent your game from launching, it could cause crashing issues, or it could cause mods to only be half functional which could create game-breaking bugs.

# Before you do anything, make sure that you understand the ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS for this collection; these are nonnegotiable: - Vortex **NEEDS** to be installed on the same drive as your Fallout New Vegas. - Fallout New Vegas **NEEDS** to be installed outside of any and all Windows factory folders. This means that Fallout New Vegas **CANNOT** be installed anywhere within a **"Program Files"** or **"Program Files (x86)"** folder. These presets are only designed for female characters. - Make sure Vortex -> Settings -> Mods -> Deployment Method is set to **"Hardlink Deployment"**. - Go to your **"Mods"** tab. On the top toolbar click **"Purge"**, then **"Deploy"**. - Go to your **"Plugins"** tab. On the top toolbar click **"Sort Now"**. - If you also have [VeryLastKiss's TTW](https://next.nexusmods.com/newvegas/collections/3fs9zx) installed on another profile, then BethINI conflicts with the **"FalloutCustom.ini"** file you created in the [VeryLastKiss's TTW](https://next.nexusmods.com/newvegas/collections/3fs9zx) installation instructions. Fixing this is easy. Do the following: 1. Delete the **"FalloutCustom.ini".** 2. Reset your BethINI to the default settings as shown in THIS collection's installation in step 13. 3. Set your BethINI to your desired settings (as shown in step 13.). 4. Readd **"FalloutCustom.ini"** as per the [Best of Times installation](https://thebestoftimes.moddinglinked.com/essentials.html) as you did before. As long as you do not adjust your BethINI settings, then you can freely swap profiles between my other collections. If you make this mistake again, then repeat these steps. If the above does not fix these mentioned major visual issues, then your installation was bugged. Again, Nexus Collections is still in alpha stage, so installations may vary. Please create a new Vortex profile and follow the steps again from step 6. **DON'T WORRY! Doing this only takes a few minutes because you already have all of the mods installed, so you will not need to reinstall them.**

Failure to do this will likely result in MANY unresolved mod conflicts and errors.** - **If you experience an error with B42 Optics, then please disregard this error; this mod will function as intended.** - If you have COUNTLESS unresolved mod conflicts and/or mod cycles, then you experienced a Vortex error that is completely outside of my control which is not directly related to this collection. If this happens, then please disable a single mod in the collection (it doesn't really matter which one), then right click on **"VeryLastKiss's (collection name)"** and click **"Reinstall"**. (You already have all of the mods installed, so doing this only takes a minute or two for Vortex to reapply all of the collection settings). This should fix the issue. If it does not work, then you may leave a comment or more preferably you may join my [Discord server](https://discord.gg/EQ9vYHyJwq) where I can help you directly. - You might receive the error, **"Some mod dependencies are not fulfilled"**. This is a false error. Ignore it. - If **NV Compatibility Skeleton** is shown as redundant, then ignore this error. **Do NOT disable NV Compatibility Skeleton.** - If you receive the error **"Loose files might not get loaded"**, then just click **"Fix"**. - If Vortex asks you to **"Elevate"**, then just click **"Elevate"**. - If you are prompted to install **"Fallout New Vegas Sanity Checks"**, then it doesn't really matter if you do so or not, but I would recommend installing them. The sanity checks just basically informs you with helpful, game-specific notifications when you're modding New Vegas. - If you're using certain optional mods and/or disabled some mods labelled as "required", then you can ignore the **"Collection incomplete"** error. - **If you receive the "missing .esms" error, then you did something wrong.** Please carefully read step **11.** If you still receive this error, then you added your own mod that requires another mod that you do not have installed. - If you get the error that **"EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp"** is not enabled, then you most likely did not enable the base game plugins **BEFORE** you clicked **"Add to Vortex"** to install the collection. Do the following: 1. Create a new Vortex profile. Select and enable it. 2. **Enable all of the base game plugins.** 3. Go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on the EVE mod(s) and completely remove them. Delete the archives if it asks you. 4. Go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on **"VeryLastKiss's (Collection name)"** and click **"Reinstall"**. Reinstall this on your new profile. This should only take a couple of minutes.

If you're crashing when you attempt to use VATS **"V"/"RB"** then it is very likely just because of a bugged install with [VUI+](https://www.moddb.com/mods/vanilla-ui-plus) and it can be very easily fixed. **This is a known issue for extremely few users, and this isn't due to any of your own doing, rather the installation of the mod might bug for some users.** Open Vortex and go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on [Vanilla UI Plus (VUI+)](https://www.moddb.com/mods/vanilla-ui-plus) and completely remove it and reinstall it. *Certain conditions in the Gomorrah Casino are known to have frequent crashes at the moment. It is extremely difficult to find fixes for these mentioned crashes as these crashes are inconsistent. I have performed several hours of testing, and I have yet to find a reliable fix for these mentioned crashes. If you are able to find a solution to this, then it would be greatly appreciated if you inform me.* Otherwise, if you experience crashes, you may try the following for solutions: - **DO NOT have the game installed in "Program Files" or any Windows factory folder that comes with the Windows operating system. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED!** If you made this mistake, then revert to step 1. You do not need to reinstall the mods since they're already installed in Vortex, so **doing this shouldn't take too much time.** - **Did you use BethINI during the Installation instructions?** If you don't know what this is, then you did not follow the **III) INSTALLATION -> INSTALLATION** instructions. You can simply restart your PC, and this error is almost guaranteed to go away on its own. - If the black command prompt window displays "xNVSE: Failed to precompile script file data/NVSE/user\_defined\_functions/**(Mod name)**", then those mods are corrupted. You can go to your **"Mods"** tab in Vortex and right click on the said mod(s) in your Vortex and remove them, then also in your **"Mods"** tab right click on **"VeryLastKiss's (Collection Name)"** and click reinstall. Alternatively, you can disable those corrupted mods completely. - If you crash on launching the game, try relaunching. Make sure you are launching the game using the script extender as mentioned in the installation. - [New Vegas Reloaded (NVR)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDFTyOfjr84) is a mod that is mentioned in **"VI) ADDITIONAL CONTENT"**. NVR is an extremely performance heavy mod and it can cause crashing issues with certain PC hardware. Disabling this mod will certainly reduce possibility of crashes and will significantly improve FPS. - **Disable the Overwolf game overlay if you use it.** Fallout New Vegas was never created with game overlays in mind. You should be perfectly safe to use the Discord and Steam game overlays though. - Go to your **"Mods"** tab. Click **"Purge"** then **"Deploy"** on the top toolbar. - Go to your **"Plugins"** tab. Click **"Sort Now"** on the top toolbar. - Open **Bethini** and try enabling **"Windowed Mode"** in the **"Basics"** tab. Click **"Save and Exit"** in the **"Basics"** tab when you're finished. - Open Steam and navigate to Library -> Home. Right click on Fallout New Vegas and open **"Properties..."** Go to **"Installed Files"** and click on **"Verify integrity of game files"**. This will make sure that Steam has installed the game correctly. If Steam has to replace any files, then it will automatically do so. Test the game, and you may need to run the 4GB patcher again. - If you receive an **"Out of memory"** error, then you either did not run the **"FNVpatch.exe"** in your game folder (run it if you haven't yet) or something is preventing it from functioning. If you did not already, try verifying your game file integrity listed in the bullet point above. If that doesn't work, then I would recommend reinstalling the collection from scratch (though you may keep the mods in the collection downloaded onto Vortex, so you should have no need to redownload all of the mods). - If you added any mods, then go into the **"Plugins"** tab on **Vortex** and look at the top right. You will see the number of active plugins you currently have enabled. **There is a max limit of 255 plugins!** *Not every mod has a plugin, but most mods do. This collection certainly has a very high amount of plugins on its own. You may disable certain optional mods or disable mods you added to reduce the number of plugins you have enabled until you are at 255 plugins or less.* It is recommended to swap **"Interior Lighting Overhaul"** for [Simple Interior Lighting Overhaul (SILO)](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71390) to reduce your number of plugins if needed. - Go to your **"Mods"** tab in **Vortex** and right click on the mod **NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix** and click **"Open in File Manager"**. Navigate to NVSE -> Plugins -> **NVTF.ini**. Make sure **bModifyDirectXBehavior** reads **bModifyDirectXBehavior = 1** - If you're repeatedly crashing in a very particular area in-game, then **try using the Portable Cheat Terminal to teleport to another location, such as Goodsprings, then return to where you were trying to load.** - **Try disabling New Vegas Reloaded** if you downloaded it in the **"VI) ADDITIONAL CONTENT"** section. Remember this mod is not compatible with all PC hardware and it is extremely performance heavy. - **Try disabling performance impacting mods**, such as all "[Rock Remesh](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/85127)" mods, [Radiation Visuals](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/84917), [All Clothing Retex 2K](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/74315) or [Higher Poly Rocks](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/75878). - **Changing certain Tweaks in the "Tweaks" menu may cause severe problems even if certain Tweaks seem completely harmless.** Please **BE CAUTIOUS** about making adjustments in this menu. If you need to reset your **"Tweaks"** settings to the default collection settings, then download the latest version of [VeryLastKiss's DUST Tweaks Preset](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/77434?tab=files). - **Reset** [BethINI](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/60560?tab=files) **to the default settings (see step 13 in the "III) INSTALLATION").** If it works, then you may improve the settings to your liking. (Again, make sure you use **"Windowed Mode"**.) - **If you added mods that are not included in this collection, then there is a possibility that some mods may not be compatible.** Try disabling them one at a time to find the cause of the crashes. Keep in mind, of course, you may have to create a new character. A safe rule of thumb is if a mod has not been updated in over 10 years (unless it's a small, simple mod), then you might want to avoid it. - If you still experience repeated crashes in a particular area in game, please see **"REPEATED CRASHING IN-GAME"** just below.

**The collection should generally be very good about not having much stuttering**, even for some older/outdated PCs, but if you are stuttering, then it might be due to some rather important values not being set properly due to Vortex not installing the collection properly, or it could just be due to other reasons. Please see below regarding how to correct these values, and how to perform other various solutions to fix/reduce stuttering: - Go to your **"Mods"** tab in **Vortex** and right click on the mod **NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix** and click **"Open in File Manager"**. Navigate to NVSE -> Plugins -> **NVTF.ini**. Make sure **bModifyDirectXBehavior** reads **bModifyDirectXBehavior = 1** - Also, in **NVTF**, make sure **iTweakRCSafeGuard** reads **iTweakRCSafeGuard = 2**. It is highly recommended for this value to be set at 2 to significantly reduce stuttering. - You may use the [FNV BSA Decompressor](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/65854?tab=files) to decompress your game to improve frame rates and loading times. This is highly recommended. Please see the bottom of **III) INSTALLATION -> INSTALLATION** if you wish to decompress your game. Decompressing is **very simple and only takes a few minutes** for your PC to do. - You may use the [Ultimate Edition ESM Fixes](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/77170?tab=files) mod to improve frame rates and loading times. This is a recommended install. Please see the bottom of **III) INSTALLATION -> INSTALLATION** if you wish to install this mod. - If you downloaded [New Vegas Reloaded (NVR)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDFTyOfjr84) in **"VI) ADDITIONAL CONTENT",** then this mod is EASILY the most performance impacting mod in the entire collection. Disabling this mod will significantly improve performance. - Try disabling all "[Rock Remesh](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/85127)" mods. These are very high polygon-count rock replacements. - You may try a lower preset in BethINI, but if you change the preset, then make sure that the game is still set to Windowed and make sure your game resolution is set properly to match your display.

## **🔧 5) IN-GAME BUGS/ERRORS:**

Many bugs are simply due to user error or lack of understanding. The following are commonly reported bugs and how to fix them: (If you are experiencing graphical issues, then please see **"1) GRAPHICAL ISSUES"**.) ***

I get an error about "missing font" and/or "restore the default font settings in Fallout.ini".

This issue is absolutely not related to your Fallout.ini; **do NOT touch your Fallout.ini.** The issue is either due to having improper file overwrites for Vanilla UI+ or your Vanilla UI+ mod was corrupted in the download. I suggest you do the following: 1. Go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on and **completely remove Vanilla UI+**. Delete the archives if it asks you. 2. Redownload [Vanilla UI+](https://www.moddb.com/mods/vanilla-ui-plus/downloads/vanilla-ui-plus-nv). Do not extract the folder. 3. Open the **"Mods"** tab in Vortex. Click **"Install From File"** on the top tool bar in Vortex and select Vanilla UI Plus. 4. Enable this mod in the **"Mods"** tab. I suggest the following installation options: **No Readme, Default Font Tweaks, and WASD Compatible.** 5. Vortex will inform you there are many mod conflicts. This seems to simply be an issue with the vanilla game. Restarting your PC should completely fix this issue.

This is not a bug. You are trying to kill feral ghouls and their limb multipliers are completely redone in DUST. You must aim for the head.

I am unable to move except for jumping or sprinting.

I am seeking a solution for this, but this is most likely related to a bug with the **"Atomic!"** perk. Do the following: 1. Load a save while your movement speed is fully functional and while you are not standing in radiation. 2. Open the Portable Cheat Terminal -> SPECIALs, Skills, Perks, & Traits -> Perks -> Wasteland Perks -> Radiation Perks -> **Atomic! - Rem**. This will remove the perk. You can then add another perk of your choosing to compensate for the loss if you'd like. If that does not work, then try loading a previous save, **especially load a save when you alternatively are or are not standing in radiation** and remove the **"Atomic!"** perk.

My audio is bugged with NPC dialogue and/or in-game music/radios.

It is advised to use standard PC/stereo speakers or a sound bar. **Headsets/headphones may have certain audio issues** with NPC dialogue, music, or the in-game radio. If you insist on using headsets/headphones, then I would recommend you play around with your Windows audio settings to see if you're able to fix the issue (I believe you will need to enable spacial sounds), otherwise, again, I suggest standard PC/stereo speakers or a sound bar.

My field-of-view/display resolution seems off. Certain things are cut off screen, like terminals or the Pip-Boy.

Yet again, this is mentioned in **"V) MANUAL" -> "SUGGESTED SETTINGS"**. Do the following: 1. If you have an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, then you need to go to the main menu -> Settings -> Tweaks and search or scroll to the bottom and enable **Ultra-Wide Support**. 2. If you do not have an ultra-wide monitor, *(or if you do have an ultra-wide monitor and the above solution did not fully resolve the issue)* then go to the in-game pause menu -> MCM -> **FOV Slider. This is where you can change various Field of View (FOV) settings.** I only really recommend making changes to the top portion for this menu. **World FOV** affects your general FOV. **Player FOV** affects your hands and weapons POV. Pip-Boy and Terminal FOVs are self-explanatory. These settings are saved across all characters.

I can't regenerate my Action Points (AP).

This is not a bug. You selected the **"Near Death Experience"** trait during character creation. Please read the trait: - ***"Your action points only regenerate when you have less than 50% health.*** *When your health is below 25%, VATS costs half as many action points. Finally, when your health is below 10%, each kill will restore all of your action points."*

Many **MCM** settings are unfortunately only saved on each individual character save. The following are notes and suggested changes in this menu: - ❗ MCM -> B42 Melee Bash -> Melee Bash key -> **"Left Alt".** *(The default* ***"X"*** *key conflicts with* ***Just Mods Bullet Time*** *as* ***"X"*** *also toggles bullet time.)* I also recommend enabling **"Fallout 4 style targeting"** (even if you are not using a controller). - MCM -> B42 Descriptions -> Enable Timer -> **"0.2".** - MCM -> B42 Descriptions -> Check the **"Enable Just Loot Menu Support".** - MCM -> Auto Item Collector -> **Custom Filter Manager** -> If you are playing with [Auto Item Collector](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/77775) enabled, then you can **"LEFT Shift+Left Click" on items in your Pip-boy** to include/exclude items for the auto-loot feature. Pressing **"/"** in-game will toggle the Auto Item Collector on and off. - MCM -> **FOV Slider. This is where you can change various Field of View (FOV) settings.** I only really recommend making changes to the top portion for this menu. **World FOV** affects your general FOV. **Player FOV** affects your hands and weapons POV. Pip-Boy and Terminal FOVs are self-explanatory.

### **ADJUSTING DIFFICULTY:**

As you very likely already know, you are able to adjust the game's difficulty in the main menu/in-game pause menu -> Settings -> Gameplay -> **Difficulty**. Though, I do also understand that some people might feel the game is still too easy (or some people might want the game to be even easier). If you'd like to adjust the difficulty of the game further in certain other regards, then you can do the following: - **You may change the game back to the vanilla "perk every other level" instead of the modded "perk every level".** i.e. you may gain a perk every 2 levels instead of the collection's perk every level. To do this, simply open Vortex and go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on **"VeryLastKiss's New New Vegas Tweaks Preset"** and **"Open in File Manager"**. Navigate linearly to nvse -> plugins -> **"nvse\_stewie\_tweaks.ini"**. Open this file. Near the top you will find **\[GameSettings]** and under it you will see **iLevelsPerPerk = 1**. Set this value to any value you like. (1 is a perk every level, 2 is a perk every other level, and etc.) - You may disable [DUST Lite](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/80644). Disabling this mod will make the game noticeably harder, and disabling this mod will also make it harder for your character to keep his sanity - **You may also change the difficulty values to your liking.** Open Vortex and go to your **"Mods"** tab. Right click on **"VeryLastKiss's New New Vegas Tweaks Preset"** and **"Open in File Manager"**. Navigate to nvse -> plugins -> **"nvse\_stewie\_tweaks.ini"**. Near the top under **\[GameSettings]** you will see the following values: ## DEFAULT: > fDiffMultHPByPCVE = 2 > fDiffMultHPByPCE = 1.5 > fDiffMultHPByPCN = 1 > fDiffMultHPByPCH = 0.75 > fDiffMultHPByPCVH = 0.5 > fDiffMultHPToPCVE = 0.5 > fDiffMultHPToPCE = 0.75 > fDiffMultHPToPCN = 1 > fDiffMultHPToPCH = 1.5 > fDiffMultHPToPCVH = 2 You will also see the note: *"For the difficulties, the 'ByPC' is referring to the amount of damage the player character deals on the respective difficulty. The 'ToPC' is referring to the amount of damage the player character receives on the respective difficulty."* **You can obviously set these to adjust the difficulty damage percentages to however you like.** These values simply serve as multipliers. The above values are the default collection settings. ### **INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTING/BRIGHTNESS:**

Everyone obviously has their own preferences for lighting, especially with nighttime. I did not include any mods which affect exterior brightness/darkness in this collection. The weather is simply from the DUST mod itself. You may absolutely add your own weather mods if you would like, which will affect night and daytime brightness. If you decide to add any of your own weather mods, then you will need to go to your "Plugins" tab, double click on the plugin of the respective weather mod (not on the hyperlink) and a side menu will open. In **"Group"** change the drop-down box to **"Dynamic Patches"**. You may also adjust your Pip-boy brightness and radius in Vortex. Open your **"Mods"** tab and right click on the mod **"Configurable Pip-Boy Light Color"**. Open this in File Manager. Navigate to Config -> **"Configurable Pip-Boy Light Color.ini"**. Change any settings you like. As for interiors, you may disable the mod [Interior Lighting Overhaul](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35794) and use [Simple Interior Lighting Overhaul](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71390) in placement of it. Doing this will brighten interiors to be similar to vanilla; however, the lighting will be lower quality.

### **THE HUD EDITOR:**

Open the pause menu and click on the big **^** button on the bottom of the screen. This is **The HUD Editor**. You do MANY things in this menu. You can click and drag your mouse to highlight multiple HUD elements at once to reposition multiple elements of your HUD at once, you can press **"Ctrl + Z"** to undo actions, you can rotate individual HUD elements, and you can right click on each HUD element to access other features, such as hiding individual HUD elements, and etc. If you ever want to reset to the default settings, then you can click the ^ button and simply click **"Reset"**. It is not recommended to adjust HUD color in this menu. Please see the below **"MAIN AND PAUSE MENU OVERHAUL (MAPMO)"** section for the recommended way to adjust your HUD color. Note: If you would like to relocate any elements to the top left corner or if you would like to relocate notification messages, then you will want to disable [B42 Notify](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/80085). You will not be able to relocate notification messages with B42 Notify enabled.

### **MAIN AND PAUSE MENU OVERHAUL (MAPMO):**

Open the pause menu or the main menu and press **"N"**. (The main menu or pause menu will show some different options). In this menu you can adjust some UI elements related to the in-game HUD, the pause menu, the main menu, the quest log, and etc. Many features are here, but **this menu is the suggested menu for adjusting the player's HUD color.** Please see the above section **"THE HUD EDITOR"** if you wish to adjust more specific features related to the in-game HUD.

### **ADJUSTING THE MAX LEVEL:**

By default, this collection has the max level set to 65,535. If you wish to change this, do the following: > Main menu/in-game pause menu -> Settings -> Tweaks -> **Max Character Level**. Change it to any value you wish up to a max value of 65,535 (or disable this setting to revert to the vanilla max level of 50).

## **1) SUPPORTED CONTENT:** ## [NEW VEGAS RELOADED (NVR)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDFTyOfjr84):

NVR is a mod that dramatically improves the lighting in the game by completely changing how light is produced and rendered in the game. NVR is essentially the modern, improved version of ENBs, and in particular has much better mod compatibility. **NVR is not recommended with DUST** because it makes the sky extremely bright during the day, and it makes distant locations appear quite unrealistically clouded out, though interiors will have better lighting with NVR. **Regardless, you may certainly use NVR with DUST if you would like to.** **WARNING: NVR is very performance heavy, and it is not exactly compatible with all computer hardware, and certain PC hardware can cause crashes.** If you have a weaker PC, or if you already struggle to run the New New Vegas collection by itself, then it is not recommended for you to proceed. **I am also well aware that this mod will cause certain lighting issues, especially in menus.** To download and install NVR, simply do the following: 1. Google **"TES Reloaded Discord"** and join their Discord. *(TES stands for The Elder Scrolls Reloaded because the mod authors work on multiple Bethesda games, and this is the shared Discord even for Fallout. They seem to have also disabled invites to their server, so you must manually search Google for their Discord.)* Download New Vegas Reloaded from their **#Nightly-Builds** channel. It is recommended to use the version released on **01/23/2024** (it may show 1/24/24 depending on your time zone). Drag and drop the zipped file onto your **"Mods"** tab on Vortex and enable the mod. Discord is required. **This is NOT my Discord channel.** 2. *(Recommended)* Disable [Dynamic Depth-Of-Field](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83796). NVR provides its own auto-distance focusing and blur effects. *(If you do not see *[*Dynamic Depth-Of-Field*](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83796)* in your mod list, then it's because this mod is included as an optional mod, so it is not included in the default install. Therefore, if you do not see *[*Dynamic Depth-Of-Field*](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83796)*, then you may ignore this step).* 3. *(Recommended)* You will likely want to disable the mod [Improved Lighting Shaders](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/69833), as it will likely cause certain lighting bugs, though NVR will work with this mod. 4. *(Recommended)* Disable the depth-of-field auto-focusing lens effect. To do this, simply load a character in-game and press **"o"** to open the options for NVR. You can use your arrow keys to navigate the menu, and you can use left and right to change tabs. Navigate to the **"Shaders"** tab and go down till you find **"DepthOfField"**. Press +/- (on the numpad) to toggle it on or off, then **press "Enter" to save any changes you make.** Press **"o"** again to close out of the menu. **Please read the Reloaded Discord FAQ section if you have difficulties.** Hardware and software setups both matter with this mod. Again, I am not responsible for any issues with this mod. I personally have no issues with the default install (apart from multiple minor issues that I don't believe can be fixed), and I had to make zero changes to properly enable this mod. To disable NVR, simply disable it on Vortex and reenable Improved Lighting Shaders.

## **2) ADDING YOUR OWN MODS:**

You are fully responsible when adding your own mods. **You may have to UPDATE, ADJUST, REMOVE or download PATCHES to mods included in this collection to accommodate for adding your own mods.** Make sure to read the mod pages of the mods you wish to add to see if there are any compatibility issues with the mods included in this collection. Listed below are categories of mods and things to be aware of before downloading them. You may certainly ask me if a mod is compatible, and you can certainly ask me how to maybe get a mod to work if it isn't compatible with this collection, but I cannot reasonably provide support. Please read below before commenting or contacting me regarding compatibility. This collection should have a decent amount of wiggle room for adding mods apart from the plugin limit. Additionally, a safe rule of thumb is if a mod has not been updated in over 10 years (unless it's a small, simple mod), then you might want to avoid it. **There is a maximum plugin limit of 255!** If you exceed this limit, then the game will instantly crash on launching. There is not much of a way around this and it's simply how modding works. Go into the **"Plugins"** tab on **Vortex** and look at the top right. You will see the number of active plugins you currently have enabled. Not every mod has a plugin, but most mods do. This collection certainly has a very high amount of plugins on its own. You may disable certain optional mods or disable mods you added to reduce the number of plugins you have enabled until you are at 255 plugins or less. It is recommended to swap **"Interior Lighting Overhaul (ILO)"** for [Simple Interior Lighting Overhaul (SILO)](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71390) to reduce your number of plugins if needed. **SILO** has better mod compatibility and uses fewer plugins compared to **ILO,** but **ILO** has better lighting. ### **Weapons, Armor, Crafting Recipes, Aid Items, and Etc.:** Practically any mod that ADDS items into the game and does not CHANGE items in the game is very likely compatible (such as mods that add weapons, armor, crafting recipes, aid items, and etc.). **If you add any weapons that have scopes, then you will likely either need to find a B42 Optics Patch, or alternatively you can search "B42 Optics" in the "Mods" tab in Vortex and deactivate all B42 Optics mods and patches.** Also, if you add weapons and such that are added into leveled lists (a list that NPCs can spawn with), then DUST might not cause enemies to spawn with them and a patch might need to be made. If you add a mod that changes the stats of an item, it will likely be compatible, but you will likely need that new mod to overwrite a mod included in the collection. I strongly recommend staying away from animation mods, as the animations in the collection should function quite well. I would also recommend staying away from sound mods. Adding a sound mod will likely work, however, you will also likely find that adding a sound mod may cause inconsistent sounds between other aspects in the collection (i.e., the volume could have significant differences). ### **Pip-Boys:** This collection is compatible with just about any Pip-Boy replacer/retexture. You will of course need to disable [Another Pip-Boy Retexture 4K](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83132) included in this collection (and you will unlikely need to disable [Clean Pip-Boy 2022](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/75414), though it has very good mod compatibility, so you shouldn't need to disable [Clean Pip-Boy 2022](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/75414)). **Please keep in mind that if you use a Pip-Boy replacer then you may have game-breaking effects if you remove the replacer mid-playthrough**, which is why this collection uses the vanilla Pip-boy, but it's retextured to look much better. To clarify, a replacer is any Pip-Boy mod that literally replaces the default Pip-Boy 3000 model, such as the [Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/65980), [Pip-Boy 2500 Definitive](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/86180) (which also requires the original [Pip-Boy 2500](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38844)), [Pip-Boy Readius](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36646), and etc. If you would like to use a Pip-Boy replacer, then you *may* need to disable the following mods: - [Pipboy Holo Panel](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/86483) - [Faster Pip-Boy In Combat](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83751) ### **Bug Fixes/Tweaks:** I do not advise adding "fix" mods that fix bugs with the base game, as those fixes are very likely already included in this collection through other means. "Tweak" mods may work depending on what exactly they're tweaking, but sometimes a "tweak" mod is inaccurately named a tweak, when they can actually be a bug fix. Again, this collection very likely already covers this said bug fix. ### **Overhauls:** Simply put, stay away from overhauls. This collection is an overhaul already and just about every aspect of the game is already modded including stats of items, the interface, a reasonable amount of the world space (interior and exterior), and etc. Most overhauls are incompatible. The overhauls that would be fully compatible are scarce. ### **ENBs:** **I will not provide support for ENBs for this collection.** ENBs are outdated and they have many incompatibilities and difficulties with countless mods. ENBs are even abandoned by the original creator of ENBs for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Avoid ENBs when using this collection. [New Vegas Reloaded (NVR)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDFTyOfjr84) is the recommended alternative to ENBs since it's a vastly superior mod. Please see [NVR](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDFTyOfjr84) under **"1) SUPPORTED CONTENT"** in this section. ### **Body Mods:** **Body mods are arguably the most frustrating mods to get working on Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Tale of Two Wastelands.** If you wish to use your own body mods, then disable all mods in this collection that are labelled as **"(VLK Body)"**. **If you have issues with body textures (like pitch black body parts, hot pink skin, or etc.) then try flicking the "Automatic Archive Invalidation" mod off and back on again.** If that doesn't work, then you might have mods that either don't properly cover all aspects of the game with various skins, or you might have conflicting body/face mods, or the mods you're using may require mods you're lacking. ### **Textures:** Most texture mods will be compatible as long as they do not affect bodies, faces, weapons, or terrain/landscape. Textures are perhaps the safest mods to download as a whole. I would strongly advise against texture mods that affect any weapons, as you may experience bugs. I would also advise against any mods that affect the terrain and landscape (such as rocks, dirt, roads, and etc.) because you will most likely cause ugly lines in the landscape, and you'd also most likely cause distant renders being highly inconsistent with close up renders of the terrain/landscape. Otherwise almost any texture mod should be fine. ### **House/Home Mods:** Most house mods should work, however, you might want to find DUST specific home mods because they will be styled to fit the DUST world, though other home mods would likely work anyways.

- **❗ YOUR OLDER SAVES MAY BE INCOMPATIBLE WITH NEW UPDATES!** There can be unexpected problems if you update mid-playthrough even if I mention an update is compatible with a previous revision. I suggest creating a new character if you wish to update this collection or simply remain on an older revision of this collection to continue your older save. **Each update is specifically designed to be played on a brand-new, fresh character and not carrying over an old character. You have been warned.** - **❗ DO NOT feel pressured to update.** If you are enjoying the game and you aren't having any real issues, then you may want to avoid updating unless you're planning to completely ditch characters from a previous revision, and you'd like to "begin again". Again, updating mid-playthrough *may* cause game breaking issues, even if I mention a new revision is compatible with a previous revision. **Update at your own discretion.** - **⛔❗ Do not update any mods on your own initiative** unless you know what you're doing. Updating individual mods may cause crashes among other game-breaking issues, INCLUDING SCRIPT EXTENDERS! *(And yes, this has happened).* **Only update the collection.** Certain versions of mods in this collection are specific versions for functionality and compatibility purposes. - **If you've added any mods on top of the collection, then I absolutely cannot guarantee any compatibility.** Use your own discernment. - **If an update caused you any issues, then you may revert to a previous revision** by clicking the drop-down arrow at the top of the main collection page and redownload any previous revision. Keep in mind that this entire collection page will not contain perfectly accurate information for older revisions.

## ☝️ HOW TO UPDATE:

1. Please read the **"WARNING!"** directly above. 2. The **"III) INSTALLATION"** instructions may change with each update, and you may also need to download updates for [Vanilla UI Plus (VUI+)](https://www.moddb.com/mods/vanilla-ui-plus) or [New Vegas Heap Replacer (NVHR)](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/69779?tab=files) in order to play the latest revision of this collection. If you're an existing player of the collection, then I will inform you in the update if there's an additional step you need to take. If you need to update the **NVHR,** then you can simply follow the same installation instructions as you did before and replace the existing files. 3. Finally, to update the collection, then simply open Vortex and open the **"Collections"** tab -> Added Collections -> VerylastKiss's DUST -> **"Update"**. If it asks you to update your current profile, then do so. If it asks you if you'd like to remove mods from the previous revision, then remove the mods. Those mods have been removed for compatibility purposes. Please also remove all archives (the lingering blue "install" button) of the removed mods as you have no need for them, and they will only cause confusion. **If you have any issues updating, then if you follow the "III) INSTALLATION" instructions beginning with step 1, then I can assure you that the collection will be installed correctly. Since you would already have the collection installed, then you would already have most of the mods already installed on Vortex from a previous revision, so you would only need to reinstall the game and reactivate all of the mods and it should only take a few minutes.**
