# *Interplay's* **Fallout 3: New Vegas**

*this is meant to be a one-stop solution for people like me who want to go back and re-experience the storylines of New Vegas from a basically vanilla standpoint, but removing the minigames that i personally find frustrating to replay again for (at this point) quite literally thousands of times through my life. very much for people who care about story over gameplay.*

*many of the items, clothing, weapons, locations, and enemies have new models that are much more closely based on their various designs from the original games, i.e. Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. this extends to the corporate splash screen, which now displays Interplay and Black Isle studios.*\

*i wanted to see what New Vegas might have looked like if it had released closer to the original games and original ownership circumstances--bringing the visuals back in line with older designs and sprites to better unify the worlds of the three games as a true trilogy. what the end result of Van Buren might've looked like in some other life.*

# Main Features:

- various "vanilla" texture packs, graphical updates and visual overhauls of most everything in the base game and DLC.
- model replacers and retextures for various items/enemies/etc based on the designs of sprites from the original Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.
- a handful of UI reskins for menus resembling their appearances in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.&#x20;
- replaces the Pip-boy with a handheld version inspired by its appearances in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

# Limited Cheat Abilities:

- force locks with 100% accuracy, terminals no longer require guesswork, pickpocketing always works. as long as your skill level is high enough to make the attempt, you will always succeed.&#x20;
- companions have access to infinite ammo.
- console usage does not disable Achievements.

- i believe the [4GB Patcher](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552?tab=files) is included in this collection but definitely make sure you get it.

**Best practices**

- install the 4GB Patcher before doing anything.
- everything else should go smoothly, i've installed the full collection all at once with no issues.

# Vortex Says Mods Are Conflicting, Which Do I Load First?

there's a lot of textures and such included that conflict with eachother. basically you want the more wide-reaching vanilla visual mods loaded first, followed by the more specific individual replacement files. \
\
for example, you'd load the Poco Bueno texture pack first, because it updates most everything. then you load something like the Classic Adobe Buildings mods, which overwrite some of what Poco Bueno just updated.\
\
think of it in terms of Generic -> Extensive -> Specific

# Recommended specs

*i originally installed this setup on a work laptop with about 8GB RAM and it was perfect. i've now installed it on my desktop with 16GB RAM and 8GB VRAM, and its just as good. i've had no real issues so far aside from some occasional flickering on some environment models, which i don't entirely care enough about to try to fix.*
