# Description

Quests, scripts, NPCs, events and locations remain essentially the same. The core changes are all about the gameplay, bug fixes, performance tweaks, better but performance friendly visuals. No crazy overhaul, no ENB, just your good ol' New Vegas.

I believe this collection provides a great base upon which you can build your very own modlist. You won't have to worry about performance issues, crashes or muddy textures. You could also handpick from my list the mods you wish to have so you don't have to download the whole thing, all these mods are guaranteed to work, I might regret saying that though. 

You need all the official DLCs for this collection to work.

# Before you start

*I use the Steam version and VORTEX, if you're using another mod manager you will have to do your own research.*

**REQUIREMENTS :**

If you're using a fresh install, launch the game at least once normally. I recommend playing the game in windowed mode, no V-Sync and Ultra Presets with bloom enabled instead of HDR.

1) Create a NEW PROFILE in Vortex for FNV, do NOT use the the default profile. If you can't see profiles, go to interface settings and enable it there.

2) Activate **Archive Invalidation**, go to settings and in the workarounds tab toggle BSA redirection.

3) Install [NVSE](https://github.com/xNVSE/NVSE/releases), download the main .zip file, extract all the contents in it to your main FNV directory and launch the game through the NVSE Loader. To make sure it is correctly installed you can type "getnvseversion" in the console and it should give you the version of NVSE you have installed. 

4) Install the [4GB Patcher](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552?tab=description), follow the steps on the mod's page description.

**OPTIONAL :**
- I recommend a clean installation of FNV, delete all files in steam, mydocuments and appdata folders before reinstalling.
- In FNV's game directory, go to data and make a backup of all **BSA** type files. Those are all the textures used in the base game, it is very important to make a backup folder for them in case you get the infamous [red square missing texture error](https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/120/images/4710-1-1236587572.gif). If you get this error after installing a new texture replacer mod, just drag and drop the BSA files you backed up to overwrite the corrupt mod files in the data folder.
- You could also make a backup of the whole game using Steam if you wish to.
- I recommend using **LOOT** to sort mod order, [this is a great tutorial on how to use it](https://youtu.be/fyvwslyKiog).

# Main features and recommendations
*These are the core mods and main features of this collection as well as some advices for you.*

- Upscaled textures for landscapes, buildings, guns, clutter etc. mainly in 2K. (3/4 of the mods here)
- Better visual effects such as smokes, fogs, water drips, muzzle flash etc.
- All NPCs have been visually overhauled to give them more detailed but still vanilla looking faces.
- Type 4 body replacer for females to eliminate neck and hand seams. Males bodies supported soon!
- New races, eye colors, hairstyles and presets for the character creation menu. 
- A few QoL additions such as sprinting, console paste and general gameplay tweaks.
- Performance and bug fixes.
- New animations, many of the once static objects have been animated to create a more lively and functional Mojave.
Watch out for the skies, you might spot an NCR bomber patrolling the desert!

> Manually download the alternate textures from [Enhanced Blood](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34917?tab=files) and extract the one you prefer to you FNV main directory. I highly recommend the blurry ones, it gives a much better look to screen blood splatter.

> Read the description page of [lstewieal's tweaks](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66347?tab=files), there is a ton of gameplay tweaks that you can choose to enable or not, by default they will all be disabled, you have to manually enable the ones of your liking in the .ini file of the mod. Some of those tweaks are actual game-changers so I highly recommend going through the whole list even if it takes time to do it, it is worth it. You should also be able to edit those through the MCM or the Pip-Boy.

> I usually play with female characters and this collection was kinda built around that so I recommend you to play with a female as well. You can play with a male no problem it's just that some parts of the male character creation menu may appear buggy, some hairstyles for exemple don't fit to some races so you will have to test and try combinations. You can also install your desired male customization mods on top of my collection since I didn't touch the male bodies, I'm waiting for the release of T4 Body mod for males.

> Once everything is installed and deployed make sure all the plugins are enabled EXCEPT for T4-modest ttw.esp, if it is enabled by default, disable it.

> Launch LOOT and sort mod order if necessary.

> Launch the game through NVSE.

⚠️**IMPORTANT BUG FIX**⚠️ in case you have missed the automatic instructions during the download.

Because of FCO you might get a double iris bug in the eyes selection for your character. In order to fix this you'll have to manually download this [mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57296?tab=files) and open it with winrar/zip and copy the eye meshes (.nif, .egt, and .egm extensions) from "meshes\characters\drumber\eyes" to the vanilla directory in "data\meshes\characters\head", you'll probably have to overwrite.

# Recommended specs

These are my specs, I run the game in 1080p, Ultra Presets averaging 100-110 FPS, up to 140 FPS in closed areas like houses. I have a very low-end GPU, most people should be able to run this collection flawlessly.
