# Preinstallation Instructions

1\. Install [Gate to Sovngarde](https://next.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/collections/qdurkx?tab=about)

2\. Open [Bethini](https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/631), select 'Skyrim Special Edition', click 'Select Game' then do the following:

- ```
    1. Set resolution to '1280x720'(16:9) or '1280x800' (16:10)

    2. Set display mode to 'Fullscreen'
  ```

    3. Enable locked framerate and cap it at 60
  ```
- ```
    4. Apply recommended tweaks (do this BEFORE applying the preset)

    5. Make sure 'Bethini Preset' is selected and click 'Poor'
  ```
- ```
    6. Make sure '64-bit render targets' is DISABLED
  ```
- ```
    7. Click 'File' at the top, then hit 'Save' and click 'Yes' on both pop-ups

3\. Open Vortex, go to mods, search for 'Community Shaders' and disable all 'Community Shader' mods **except for** 'Main' and 'Auto Parallax', after that install this collection on top of GTS (**Install optional mods if you have Anniversary Edition**)

**Question**: "Missing Masters?"\
**Answer**: if you are missing Anniversary Edition content then you didn't follow [Gate to Sovngarde](https://next.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/collections/qdurkx?tab=about)'s installation instructions properly. If you are missing mods that aren't from Anniversary Edition then Vortex messed something up, delete Assorted Mesh Fixes (mod and archive) from the mod list, restart Vortex and resume the Gate to Sovngarde installation from the 'Collections' tab within Vortex, if Vortex appears stuck during installation, it isn't. Be patient and let it be, ignore all errors and pop ups until the installation is complete and restart Vortex before continuing.

**Question**: "I am getting errors?"\
**Answer**: if you are getting notifications saying *"Some mods are redundant" or "Some mod dependencies are not fulfilled" simply ignore it.*\
**Explanation**: the reason why it says *"Some mods are redundant"* is because this collection includes mods that take complete precedence over other mods, these mods mainly replace vanilla and modded assets with really REALLY low quality versions in order to free up system resources. the reason why it says *"Some mod dependencies are not fulfilled"* is because you followed this guide correctly and disabled Community Shaders's extra features, Vortex detects that these features aren't enabled and wants you to re-enable them, just simply ignore it.

**Question**: "Why does this exist?"\
**Answer**: this collection is for those who really want to experience the collection despite having a weak system, for people who want to play regardless of appearance. Blurry textures, pixelated edges and low resolution, nothing is off the table for those desperate enough to play this collection.\
**TLDR**: Some people can't afford good hardware but still wanna play the collection, this attempts to help to solve that issue for those with really weak computers.
