## Optimized for Stardew Valley 1.5.6

This mod pack is designed to really flesh out and expand the Stardew Valley experience, while staying true to the original difficulty levels. Also included as Optional Mods is the final 1.5.6 Aesthetic Valley mod list, the collection that makes Stardew Valley extra cozy and cute!

## Collection Highlights

### Expansions

- **Stardew Valley Expanded** is a fanmade expansion for ConcernedApe's Stardew Valley. This mod adds 26 new NPCs, 33 locations, 230 character events, 18 fish, reimagined vanilla areas, two farm maps, a reimagined world map reflecting all changes, new music, questlines, festivals, and many miscellaneous additions!
- **East Scarp** is a picturesque neighborhood by the sea, and a direct extension of Pelican Town located at the west of it. This mod comes with many new locations, NPCs, items and additions, however, it is also a home for Custom NPCs to inhabit without creating extra map patches.
- **Lunna** is a girl with a secret past and claims to not come originally from our land but instead from a place called Umuwi. She is also under the care and supervision of M. Rasmodius the Wizard!
- **Ridgeside Village** is a village rests on the ridge overlooking Stardew Valley, accessed by a cable car near the bus stop. This mod is not canon but tries to retain the feel of the vanilla game while it adds adds over 50 new NPCs, a new location, new items, new shops, new festivals, custom music, custom quests, and more!

### Additional NPCs

- **Sterling, Mia and Henry**﻿ from *Always Raining in the Valley* are a delightful trio who will steal your heart!
- **Rodney** is rather friendly writer, even though he's also quite judgmental. He will warm up to you quickly!
- **Leilani** is from Ember Island in the Fern Islands archipelago (like her husband!) and works away from the valley for most of the year, but every summer she comes back to spend time with her family, Pika and Keahi.

## How to Install Collections using Vortex

*Please completely reinstall this collection from scratch if you have a version older than revision 30.*

- Install both Stardew Valley and Vortex on your computer.&#x20;
- If your installation involves more than one drive, please change Deployment Method from **Hardlink Deployment** to **Symlink Deployment** inside *Vortex Settings > Mods*.
- Confirm your Stardew Valley mod folder does not contain mods that are not managed by Vortex if you are using an existing installtion.
- Log into your Nexus account in Vortex. In the Games tab, enable Stardew Valley.
- In your browser, click the **\[Add to Vortex]** on this page. A pop-up should appear in Vortex.
- Install this collection to a new profile. Click **\[Install Now]** once a profile has been selected.
- Follow all instructions during the installation process.&#x20;
- For this SPECIFIC collection, be sure that SMAPI 3.18.6 and not the newest version is Enabled. You may need to reset your tool on your Vortex profile page and restart the app before it is usable.
- If you have Premium, Vortex will download the collection to your profile.
- \*If you do not have Premium, click the Mod Manager/Vortex button for each mod as Premium displays them. If a mod cannot be downloaded via Mod Manager/Vortex, use manual download and drag the file onto the bottom panel of the Mod page in Vortex if necessary.
- There will be "Optional Mods" pop up, this contains additional aesthetic mods, as well as an alternate map that works well for single players, Grandpa's Farm. If you decide to install these, there are additional (simple) instructions.

Turning off SVVE mods may create an unresolved requirements error, but this can and should be ignored! It is just Vortex letting you know you're using a variation rather than the basic version of the collection.

**Tip:** Turn on the Dependency field in the Mod List ⚙️ to see a red marker on all conflicts!

### Steam Installation

- If your Stardew Valley was installed through Steam and you'd prefer to use that launcher and to enable Steam achievements, right-click on the game in your Library and chose *Properties.* At the bottom of the General tab is Launch Options, click into the textbox in that section. You will need to paste the path to SMAPI, in quotes, followed by `%command% `This will be the path for most Steam users, but feel free to modify this if necessary to match your installation: `"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%`
- Launch the game by clicking on the game in the upper left of Vortex!

### Common Issues

🗺️ Grandpa's Farm map does not update to work with Daisy Niko's recolor. Until a patch mod can be created, please use this solution: Copy the four files "spring\_map\_grandpasfarm.png, summer\_map\_grandpasfarm.png..." from `"[CP] DaisyNiko's Earthy Recolour\assets\LooseSprites"` into the `\Grandpa's Farm\[CP] Grandpa's Farm\assets\Maps\WorldMaps` and replace existing files.

💤 Due to the number of mods, initial menus and game loading may be slow, but once loaded, gameplay should be smooth. If the game hangs (not responding) please be patient and do not press any buttons or click out of the window, it will most likely resolve itself. This behavior has been observed during the intro, opening the load screen, during loading, rarely (and briefly) between days.

👀 Crash when starting a new game? Watch the intro! There is a known bug that causes a crash if you skip the intro when loading mods into a new game. So don't skip the intro, and don't click away during the intro!

🛑 Red Warning related to missing PyTK and TMXL? Those two mods were intentially removed from the collection, and the errors related to ARV Spouse Room and Beatrice Festival Locations can safely be ignored. The removal of these mods should greatly improve game load times and reduce load screen crashing for most players. If you are married to Sterling (ARV Spouse Room), you may need to either install [PyTK](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1726) and [TMXL](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1820) mods separately or alternatively download the beta version of [Always Raining in the Valley](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ELLmHeUMbWYu2kW09Fz5bmvJr87CiUE7/view?usp=sharing). Beatrice may or may not appear at festivals. Both of Beatrice and ARV Spouse Rooms will display a red error in SMAPI which can safely be ignored.

💢Seeing lots of red in SMAPI? Maybe a mod did not install correctly. This issue can often be solved by filtering "Enabled" mods inside Vortex, selecting them all with CTRL-A in the Mods view, and then clicking Reinstall in the bottom menu (do not right-click!)

✂️ If you're getting an error that mods are installed more than once, watch for the red conflict icon in your mods list and then disable/uninstall the older version for each.

📅 If you previously installed mods without Vortex, those mods may try to load and create conflicts. It is highly recommend you remove them from your mod folder while using this collection.

There are over 70 introductions to make in your original quest by default.

**Q:** Do all players need the collection for co-op?

> **A:** Yes, all players in the co-op game need to have the collection installed in order for it to work correctly. To ensure that everyone has the latest version of the collection and that all mods are installed properly, you can use Vortex and also double-check the number of mods running in SMAPI is the same for all players.

**Q:** There was an change to the collection (or a mod in the collection) and now there are trees/bushes in the way, how do I fix that?

You will need to temporarily disable the L hotkey from To-Dew in Mod Configuration Menu, since it uses the same hotkey, but this handy tool will let you fix any number of foliage-related disasters.
