*A collection of mods I personally find helpfull and fun to play with.*

*All mods in this collection aim to do one or more of three things:*

*- Improve stability, performance & visuals of Starfield*

*- Fix bugs and modify or add behaviour to be more sensible in Starfield*

*- Alter or add features to improve quality of life in Starfield*

# Before you start

*Please make sure to read and understand installation instructions. This collection assumes you are using Steam & vortex mod manager.*

*Make sure you understand how *[***Archive invalidation***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/articles/116)* & *[***plugin enabling***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4157?tab=description)* is done as described in linked pages.*

**Requirements**

- *Making sure Vortex has downloaded and enabled "Starfield Vortex Extension"*
- *Making sure Vortex is set to "Hardlink Deployment"  & mod stagin folder is on the same partition as your Starfield installation in settings under the "Mods" tab.*

After installation:

- *Archive invalidation is done in StarfieldCustom.ini using notepad++ or something alike (Located in \users\\{username}\Documents\my games\Starfield) See Archive invalidation link above for more info*
- *Adding all .esm file names in Plugins.txt on a new line after an \* (Located in \users\\{username}\\%appdata%\Local\Starfield You can navigate here by typing %localappdata% in your windows searchbar) See plugin enabling link above for more info*
- *Follow the After Installation Guide below. Note that I've included a full overview of what Starfield.ini & Plugins.txt should look like if all mods were installed at the start of that section and you can just copy them into the respective files if you've chosen to install all mods.*
- *Running starfield through SFSE\_Loader.exe while steam is running, I can't stress this enough, nothing will work if you don't. I recommend making a shortcut and adding that to your desktop. (Located in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield)*

**Best practices**

- *Backing up save files (of unmodded saves) before modding (Located in \users\\{username}\Documents\my games\Starfield\saves)*

*If you've chosen to omit 1 or more mod(s) I highly recommend looking through this next section and reversing any change made due to the specific mod(s) you chose to omit, they could end up crashing or corrupting your game if left in.*

*This section also includes a couple mods that are not available for vortex download and thus are not in the collection.*

### - Changable FOV

*To change 1st & 3rd FOV change fFPWorldFOV &  fTPWorldFOV values repectively in StarfieldCustom.ini to your liking. (Also go have a look there if you want a change to FOV in third person ship view.)*

### - Cleanfield

*Add the following items to "StarfieldCustom.ini" under* `[General]`

### - Craftable Ammo & Utilities

*This is a mod that lets you craft ammo and utilities like digipicks and med packs by* [***pitufocabeza***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/users/6562668)

*Add *[***this***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/831?tab=files)* file to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data (No vortex install possible currently)*

### - No XP Kill Steal

*Add the following items to "StarfieldCustom.ini" under* `[General]`

`sStartingConsoleCommand=bat NoXPKillStealFix;`

*If you want to alter the percentage of damage you need to do to still get xp simply edit the "NoXPKillStealFix.txt" file in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield and edit the value to the percentage you'd prefer (1.0 being 100%, 0.25 being the game default 25% and 0.001 being the mod default 0.1%)*

### - Performance Boost

*To gain advantage of this perfomance boost switch your graphics settings to a different preset you intend to use and then to the one you want to use to force the game to use the modified files.*

### - Scanner Filters (previously Burden Me Not - Clutter Be Gone)

*This is a mod that allows you to track certain item categories in the research station and change or hide their outline in scanner mode by* [***DW420***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/users/98563) *Originally by* [***xatmos***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/users/92245) *but only in esp format hence the switch.*

*Add* [***this***](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/7189?tab=description) *file to* *SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data folder. (No vortex install possible currently)*

*Add the following items to "StarfieldCustom.ini" as their own section*

### - StarUI

*I higly recommend using StarUI Configurator as it simplifies the process of customizing any StarUI mod greatly. If you are not using the configurator tool follow the steps below to create a User file for saving changes between versions.*

*To use this tool go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data and open StarUI Configurator.hta*

*If you do not have user files yet, make sure to change a value, close the tool and reopen it. Otherwise it will create a new file every time you make a change and not save anything but the last change you make.*

*Creating User file manually:*

*Go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\interface, copy the relevant* "*StarUI {version} (default).ini*" *file and remove the (default) part from the copy. This creates a save file unaffected by updates.*

*eg.:* `StarUI Inventory (defail).ini` *- Copy >* `StarUI Inventory (defail) - Copy.ini` *- Rename >* `StarUI Inventory.ini`

### - Further Modification

*A lot of the mods in this collection have some degree of custimization of modification to them.  If you really want to see what all mods offer I'd recommend going to the mod page and having a look through what their creators have writen about them. Everything in this section is mostly to get the mods working but there is so much more to customize I'd be writing for a week.*

*Any collection that doesn't include mods that target the same files.*

*Unless you dissable some of the mods probably won't work with anything that:*

*- Changes inventory / crafting / HUD UI layouts (due to StarUI)*

*- Majorly overhauls scanning / shipparts / legendary modifications (due to mods targetting those specific things)*
