# Basics

## Add Valheim to Vortex
- Open Vortex
- Go to "Games", add Valheim if it's not managed yet

## Settings
- Go to **Settings** > **Interface**, ensure "**Enable Profile Management**" (under **Advanced**) is enabled
- Go to **Settings** > **Mods**, ensure the "mod staging folder" is on the same hard-drive as the game (clicking "suggest" works)
- Go to **Settings** > **Mods**, set "Deployment Method" to "Hardlink"

# Install the Collection
## Create a new Profile
- Create a **new Profile**, give it a name that fits this collection! (e.g. "Abenteurer")
- Enable the profile. **Make sure it has 0 mods enabled**. If there are any, disable them before you proceed.

## Add Collection
- Click "**Add To Vortex**" (button in the top right of this page)
- Make sure you select the correct profile to install into.
- When the collection asks you to download mods, do so (if you have premium, downloads start automatically).

# Confirm success
Open the game and press F1. This should open the configuration manager. **If it works you are done here**

If not, fix all these steps:
  - Ensure Deployment Method is set to Hardlink
  - Is a "BepInExPack" installed? Should look somewhat like this `denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.1901.zip`  
    - I made this dependency *optional* in the collection because for people who already have a BepInExPack installed, forcing it can lead to weird behavior. Besides this, Nexus claims that Vortex ships with its own Valheim support package and does not require BepInEx.
  - "Configuration Manager" should have version `0.5.0`.  Do NOT accept an upgrade to `17.x.x` when Vortex offers it.
  - Click "Deploy Mods"

# Suggested Mod Configurations
- press F1 to open the Configuration Manager
- **Equipment and Quick Slots** section:
  - set the keybinds for food slots to `i, o, p` or whatever you prefer. The default values `z, v, b` are a bit awkward.
  - set food quickslot position to `x:190.00` and `y:90.00` for nicely aligned UI if using Project Auga in 1080p
