Mod Collection Installation

Tested for Steam version. Untested for Gamepass version, but it should work the same; Gamepass has a different game directory location. 1. Have [Vortex Mod Manager](#Vortex-Mod-Manager) with [Darktide Vortex Extension](#Darktide-Vortex-Extension) i. **Steam users** should have their game directory be the `Warhammer 40,000 DARKTIDE` folder found in their `steamapps\commons` folder or their custom Steam Library. ii. **Gamepass users** should have their game directory be the `Contents` folder found in their `XboxApps\Warhammer 40,000- Darktide` folder or their custom Xbox app library folder. iii. You can check and set Game Directory in the **Games** page in Vortex and clicking the triple vertical dot at the top right of the Darktide card element. iv. Go to the **Settings** page in Vortex and then the **Mods** *tab*. Ensure that the *Deployment Method* chosen is `Hardlink Deployment`. If it is not, change it to `Hardlink Deployment` and press the Apply button. v. In the same **Settings** page as step iv, ensure the *Mod Staging Folder* is in the same Drive as the game install directory. If it is not, you can either manually click the `Suggest` button and then navigate, create, and select a directory in the same Drive the game is in as the Staging Folder or set the `Automatically use suggested path for staging folder` to active. 2. Add this Mod Collection to Vortex using the *Add to Vortex* button. 3. Install the Mods; Optional mods are up to your preference. 4. In the **Mods** page, make sure all mods are installed and enabled; You are also welcome to turn off a required mod you don't want them active in the Mod Options in-game. You could also disable them in Vortex, just check for mod dependencies. 5. Run **toggle\_darktide\_mods.bat** to patch the game to load mods, either: i. Go to the **Dashboard** page, look at *Tools* section which is usually located in the middle right of the page, then hover over and click the icon next to *Darktide Mod Patcher* (or the triple vertical dot and then *Run*). ii. At the top of the **Mods** page, click the **Open...** dropdown menu, select **Open Game Folder**, then run **toggle\_darktide\_mods.bat**. 6. Run the game, tweak the mod options, and play. If you have issues at step 5 when patching the game using toggle_darktide_mods.bat you can try the following troubleshooting steps: 1. Return to step 1 and ensure **Hardlink Deployment** is used and the Mod Staging Folder is in the same Drive as the Game folder. 2. If it still does not work, disable Darktide Mod Loader and Auto Mod Loading and Ordering, 3. Check the [Darktide Mod Loader](https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/19) mod page, and try installing it manually. 4. Try patching the game using toggle_darktide_mods.bat 5. Re-enable/ reinstall Auto Mod Loading and Ordering and Darktide Mod Loader in Vortex. 6. If it still doesn't work, check the Posts or Bug section of the DML mod page.

Updating Mod Collection to a Higher Revision

1. Update the Collection to the higher Revision and go through the updates/ mod install process. 2. Read the Revision changelog and Disable/ Remove problematic mods that were removed from the Collection. 3. If there are still issues, either: i. Read the changelogs of all the revisions up to the one you are using for problematic mods that were removed and disable/ remove them. ii. Or at Vortex's **Mods** page, right click *Ashax's Mod Collection* and click *Remove Related* (don't remove the archive/ files so you don't need to redownload the mods), sift through the remaining Enabled mods and Disable/ Remove them if needed, and then Install the Mod Collection again.

## Important ones 1. !! Every time Darktide is updated or patched, you need to run *toggle\_darktide\_mods.bat* again !! 2. !! Tweak mod configurations in the **Mod Options** menu, accessible from the Esc menu and **F4** key !! 3. If you want specific mods disabled you should be able to do so from the *Toggle Mods* submenu and switching the specific mods to *Off*; If the mod is unavailable, **disable** it in *Vortex*. 4. Modular Menu Buttons mod. - Switch buttons you don't want to be on the Esc Menu to **Off**. - My Settings - Operative Selection - Everything is off except for Social, Party Finder, Commodore Vestures, Havoc and Credits. - Morningstar - Everything is On, except for Armoury Exchange, Mission Terminal, Psykhanium, Sire Melk's Requisitorium and Shrine of Omnissiah (I use **hub hotkey menus** to access them). - Psykhanium - Everything is Off, except for Operative, Social, Armoury Exchange, Shrine of Omnissiah, and Change Operative. - Matchmaking - Everything is On, except for Psykhanium. - Mission - Everything is Off, except for Penances, Social, and Change Operative. 5. Custom HUD mod - The default Hotkey to toggle HUD customization/ moving HUD elements is *F3*. - Move the UI Elements of other mods around by click selecting them and using arrow keys. - You can right click UI elements to make them invisible. 6. hub\_hotkey\_menus mod - Set the hotkeys. - My Settings - Contracts: J - Crafting: K - Credits vendors: L - Mission Board: M - Training Grounds: N - Social: O - Shrine Penitentax: P 7. Buy Until Rating - I use it to buy 5 weapons at-a-time and set the **Keybind to stop** (I bind it to **B**). 8. Log Me In - I set **Remember Last Character** to *Off* so it does not skip the character select screen. 9. Scoreboard - turn *Tactical Overview [Tab]* to **Off** for a cleaner view of the Vanilla in-game Contracts and Penance tracker.

Comments on some of the Optional Mods

With Alphabetical ordering: 1. Audible Decimator - Makes gaining *Decimator* Blessing stacks produce sound. - I only set it **On** for Stack 5 and 10. 2. Audible Grenade Regen - Configure alternate sound for Ogryn Rock and Veteran's Demolition Stockpile grenade Regeneration sound. - I use the default settings. 3. Audible Surgical - Makes gaining *Surgical* Blessing stacks produce sound. - I only turn set it **On** for Stack 2, 5, and 8. 4. Audible Thrust - Makes gaining *Thrust* Blessing stacks produce sound. - I changed the sound for Stack 1 and 2 to *human punch light* 5. Autoloot - Automatically interacts with specific interactables within range. - I turned *Automatically pick up grenades* and *Automatically pick up ammo* to **Off** - You can disable it if you don't want to accidentally pick up stuff. 6. AutoTag - I think I use default settings: - Cooldown: 10 - Override Manual Tag: Off - Refresh Cooldown: On 7. AutoVault - Helps tremendously when playing Ogryn. - I use default settings (When holding forward while in the air). 8. Barrel Warning - Changes activated barrel sounds to the Poxburster sound. - I personally use this. - If you don't want to get confused by Poxburster sound from hit barrels you can skip/ disable/ remove this. 9. Better Buff Management - Set the hotkey (I set it to *F6*). - Name Bars and create them. - Search for blessing/ class buffs/ debuffs to add to the selected bar. - Some filters to use: 'Zealot', 'Psyker', 'Ogryn', 'Veteran', 'Power', 'Damage', 'crit', 'Toughness', 'on_hit', 'on_continuous', etc. - I have separate bars for Keystones, Talents, and Blessings 10. Blitz Bar - I stopped using this and started using *Crosshair HUD* instead (and a Keystone buff bar through Better Buff Management). - Use Custom HUD/ *F3* and move Blitz Bar to a position you want (it is the long horizontal rectangle HUD element). - Set if you want to have it prioritize displaying Blitz or Keystone. 11. Born Ready - Set what you want to skip/ auto-answer/ or prompt. - My Settings - Skip end-of-mission screen: Off - Ready up in lobby: Off - Accept Mission Prompt: On - Party Invites & Join Requests: Prompt 12. Clock - Up to your preference, I moved it up to the top right with Custom HUD (*F3*) - My Settings: - 24 Hour Clock On - Digital Clock Font: On - Color: Citadel calgar blue. 13. Crosshair Confirmation - I set Specials kills to display a Purple Circle and Elite kills to a Green/ Orange Triangle 14. Crosshair HUD - Highly customizable and subjective. 15. Decode Helper - Shows you all the targets for the decode symbols minigame (including next rows). 17. Decode Minigame Solver - Plays the Decode Minigame for you. - I personally don't use this. 18. Default Sprint - Might conflict with *Hybrid Sprint* - QoL to use sprint as default movement (swaps sprint with walk) - I personally don't use this. 19. Dump Stat Finder - Highlights gear with Dump Stats (for identifying godrolls). - Changes the godroll gear's color to Red. - I don't use the filtering buttons as it seems to conflict with another mod. 20. EmoteBoard - Opens a menu to play emotes in the Mourningstar. - I set **Show Board (Held)** to *Alt* 21. Extended Weapon Customization - It is popular and pretty comprehensive, but I personally don't use it. 22. Friendly NPCs - Makes vendors always be friendly to you (Most noticeable when playing Psyker and talking with Sister Prine/ Melk. - I personally stopped using it. 23. Full Auto - QoL if you want autofire for semi-auto weapons. There are options for charge-fire weapons and some Blitz as well. - My Settings: - Automatic Firemode (Toggle): *T* - Everything in Misc section to Off 24. Get Out of The Way - Prevent players from blocking your camera by making them fade out if they get too close - I set **Only Ogryn** to *On* 25. Granular Settings - More decimal places for sensitivity and FOV. - Increased minimum and maximum FOV by 20°. 26. Healthbars - Shows the healthbars of enemies, toggleable per enemy type. 27. Health Scaling - Scales health and toughness bars based on their maximum values. - I personally don't use this (I find the different length bars distracting.) 28. Hybrid Sprint - QoL to provide better sprinting experience by combining Toggle and Hold sprinting mechanic together (similar to Apex Legends?). - I personally don't use this. 29. Immersive Evasion - Makes dodge and slide tilt the camera for immersive evasion experience. - I personally don't use this but a lot of people (my friend included like it). 30. Loadout Monitor - In the Mod Options, scroll down and set the **Other: Lift Tactical Overlay** slider to **240** so it doesn't conflict with the display of Contract Overlay. - **If you don't want your Scoreboard to overflow**, disable the Scoreboard display option in Loadout Monitor's mod options or disable some of the Scoreboard mod's categories/ plugins. 31. Keep Swinging - QoL if you want to auto-swing light attacks. - I don't use it. 32. Many More Try - For Mission ID saving/ sharing. Missions *expire* in 24 hours and you can play saved missions using this mod and the mission ID even if it is not on the Mission Board. - See section Other Mod Usage Instruction section for how to use this mod. 33. More Characters and Loadouts - More Character Slots and Loadouts - If you decide to disable/ uninstall this mod, remember to delete any additional characters or loadouts. - A Fatshark account already approved the use of this mod. - I personally only have 4 characters but use the additional Loadout slots. 34. More Graphics Options - Adds additional graphics options to turn off for performance or visual tweaking (Fogs, Lights, etc.). - If your PC is good (i.e. meet the recommended requirements), you probably don't need this. - I don't use it. 35. Pause Vision - Makes the pause & options menu more transparent. 36. Peril Gauge - Adds a bar to indicate the Psyker's perils of the warp. - You can turn the bar opacity to 0 and tweak the other settings for Peril information display. - My Settings: - Used Custom HUD to move it to the right of Crosshair - Thickness 10 - Length: 150 - Opacity: 0.40 - Label: Hide Label - Show Gauge Percentage: On - Number of Decimal Digits: 1 - Orientation: Vertical (Flipped) - Bar Grow Direction: Start to End - Label Vertical Position: Bottom - Label Horizontal Position: Right - Percentage Vertical Position: Bottom - Percentage Horizontal Position: Left 37. Perspectives - Set a keybind for the 1st/ 3rd person perspective toggle and the 3rd person viewpoints switch if you want. - I set it to **Y**. 38. Quick-Inject Stimms - Panic Stimm - Keybind to quickly self-inject Stimm. - Options for quick-inject on button press or on button hold (and hold button length). - Options to decide what happens after (Wield Previous/ Default Behavior) - "Wield Previous" is slightly different from "Default Behavior." - Firstly, default behavior will not switch to your blitz even if it was what you were last holding. - Secondly, if you pick up a new stimm shortly after using one, default behavior will leave you holding the new stimm. - "Wield Previous" will instead swap to whatever you were previously holding. - If this mod gets stuck at any point during an auto-injection, simply press the auto-injection button again to get it unstuck. - My Settings: - Quick-Inject: 4 - Quick-inject Timing: Hold to Inject - Quick-Inject Hold Duration: 0.4 - After Injection: Wield Previous Weapon 39 . Quickest Play - If you are in a premade strike team and you are the one who queues for quickplay, I recommend turning **Quickest Play** to **Off**. - I turned Auto-retry quickplay to **On** to attempt hotjoining an on-going match. 40. REALPRICES - Shows real prices of Premium Cosmetics. - I use default settings. 41. Remove Tag Skulls - Removes the red and gold skulls on Tagged enemies. 42. Remove Region Restrictions - Unlocks the Ragdoll Interaction feature for players in **Germany** and **Austria**. 43. Scan Helper - During Auspex Scan Objectives, shows all environment targets that need to be scanned with the Auspex with a green highlight (through the wall). 44. Show Insignias - Shows player insignias during missions. 45. Show Crit Chance - Tweak the X and Y offset to position it (Does not leverage Custom HUD). - I also tweaked the opacity value. 45. Show Remaining Dodges - Alternative to Numeric UI's *show dodge count option*. - In Darktide you can dodge infinitely, but once you dodge consecutively more times than your dodge limit your dodges become ineffective. - They will become shorter and more sluggish until you stop and wait for the gauge to recharge. - This mod shows how many effective dodges, both max and consecutive, you have. - I personally use Numeric UI's show dodge count option and disabled this mod. 46. Simple Speed Meter - Reposition using Custom HUD. - Can skip if you think it is TMI/ distracting. 47. Speak Up mod - Tweak the volume adjustment when someone is using in-game VOIP. 48. Specials Tracker - Newer alternative/ evolution to the Spawn Feed mod. - Notify player on special and monstrosity spawns or deaths and/ or adds a permanent HUD element which lists and display count of active specials/ monstrosities. - Note: Includes Sniper specials by default. - Customizable: exclude specific specials/ monstrosity, color code priority list. - IIRC, you can right click the Special List to hide it using Custom HUD, if you just want the spawn/ kill notification. - QoL for newer players and those with a sound setup that is bad at communicating special spawns; Accessibility for the hearing impaired. 49. Spidey Sense - This will add visual indicators to audio cues from various special/elite enemies eg, mutants and hounds. - This will also offer visual backstab warning. - Tweak it based on preference (color, distance of indicator to crosshair, etc.) disable/ remove it if it is TMI. - Useful for the Hard of Hearing/ Deaf. 50. Stop Accidental Jumps - You don't need this mod if you bind your dodge to a different button than your jump key (e.g. bound dodge to Shift/ Sprint). - If you like to do jump shots while ADS-ing and strafing, you might not want this mod. - I rebind dodge to Shift while still having jump on Spacebar, so I don't use this. 51. Super Flashlight - Customize the light effect of the flashlight (Super powerful default). 52. Tap 2 Dodge - QoL option for those who are used to double tap dodge action from other games. - I personally don't use it. 53. Team Outline Colours - Extension mod for Player Outlines. - Changes color of Teammates to match their assigned player color. - Could make it confusing when trying to identify teammates. 54. Toggle Alt Fire - QoL option. - **As of Patch #13, Darktide has a vanilla Toggle ADS and Braced setting - keep that setting disabled (i.e. you should have to hold to aim) for this mod to work**. - This mod allows you to toggle the alternate fire for ranged weapons. - For most ranged weapons, that means the aim-down-sights is toggled, but this mod extends to all the ranged weapons in the game, including flamers and force staves. - Each ranged weapon category can be individually set to toggle in the mod options, so if you prefer to hold the alt-fire action for certain weapon types, you can do so easily. - Additionally, certain actions can be set to untoggle; for example, by default, venting a staff or plasma gun untoggles the alt-fire. - I personally don't use it, but I have a discord friend who prefers more actions to be on Toggle. 55. Toggle HUD - Toggle show/ hide HUD - You can use `/hud` chat command to show/ hide your HUD - You can also keybind a key - If your HUD ever disappears while playing or editing with Custom HUD, doing `/hud` twice should bring it back. 56. Toggle Interact - Toggle action QoL. - I personally don't use this, but I have a discord friend who prefers more actions to be on Toggle. 57. Toggle Quell - Toggle action QoL. - I personally don't use this, but I have a discord friend who prefers more actions to be on Toggle. 58. Train Solver - Don't like the train minigame? - This takes care of it for you, so you can rest your hands, drink coffee, or what-have-you. - Plays at the skill of an average player, not 100% accurate. 59. Transparent Shield - Simple mod that makes Ogryn's Slab Shield transparent. - You can choose the opacity in the mod options (I set it to 60-80%). 60. Tree Helper - This mod shows you the correct scan targets to choose for the Hab Dreyko tree event.

Preferences related to Required Mods

With a subjective ordering based on importance: 1. Numeric UI mod - I personally have **Show Dodge Count** and **number of efficient dodges** enabled. - Disable the above if you use the optional Show Remaining Dodges Mod. - I turned **Show peril percent text** and **Show peril icon** to **Off** as I use the optional Peril Gauge Mod. 2. Who Are You mod - I personally put **Display Style** to **Character Name (Account Name)** and **Applied To: Combat Feed and Nameplate** to **Off**. 3. Disable Screen Effects mod - I personally set everything to **On**, except: - Disable blood splatter - Disable in buildup twin toxic gas - Disable chaos beast of nurgle hit by vomit - Disable cm habs tree in slime - Disable damage taken - Disable toughness absorbed melee - Disable toughness absorbed 4. Crosshair mods (Crosshair Remap, Crosshairs fix, Dynamic Crosshair) - Customize them with how you like them to be. For Crosshair Remap, I changed several weapon's crosshair to **Dot** 5. Clean Force Blocking mod - I set everything to **Off*, except for *Remove blocking visual effect*. 6. Custom Flames mod - My settings: - Enemy Flamer Sound: Off - Nurgle Ground Particles: Off - Flamer Type: Zealot Orange - Flamestaff Type: Psyker Blue - Orange Burst Flame Style: Pilot Lights - Orange Charged Flame Style: Clean Stream - Blue BUrst Flame Style: Quick Puff - Blue Charged Flame Style: Mini Match 7. Zealot Fire Particle Swap - Similar to Custom Flames mod, but for the Zealot's Immolation/ Incendiary grenade. - I use Particle Type: Nurgle Goo. 8. Found Ya mod - Tweak the distance; I increased the sliders for Forge Materials, Scriptures and Grimoires, Luggables, and Supplies. 9. Pickup Notifications Tweaker - Customize based on preference. 10. Player Outlines mod - Toggle the default skeleton-hologram, a highlighted mesh, and an outline. - I set everything to **On**, except for *Show in Mourningstar*. 11. Creature Spawner mod - I recommend binding the spawning and enemy selection hotkeys to the Numpad if you don't use them for anything else. 12. Which Book mod - change the color of the icon for the Tome and Grimoire, I set *Use custom color* and *individual color for Scriptures* to **On** and set them to Red RGB(255, 0, 0) for Grims and Yellow/ Orange RGB(255, 255, 0) for Tome. 13. QuickLookCard - If you think it makes the inventory screen display too much information/ want to get back the **cleaner look of vanilla item cards**, switch it to **Off** - I have everything **On**, except for *Modifier Stats* and *Blessings* 14. StaminaVis - I use the default stamina bar settings. You can tweak transparency, percentage display side, etc. 15. Less Annoying Ping - You can choose to keep or replace the Ping Sound. 16. For The Emperor - You can use right-click (hold) while the chat wheel is up to reorder it. 17. Smaller Talent Tree - Shrinks the size of the talent tree; I use 0.75 values. 18. Friendly NPC mod - Set to **Friendly/ Jerk/ Off**. 19. Psykhanium Default Difficulty mod - My Settings: - Default difficulty: 5 - When interacting with Psykhanium: Choose Meat Grinder (difficulty selection view) - Just in case I fatfingered **N** (Psykhanium hotkey) when I wanted to press **M** (Mission Board hotkey). 20. AFK mod - Increase or decrease the amount of AFK check blocks. 21. Recolor Boss Health Bars - I have Demonhost RGB(202, 62, 255), Weakened monsters RGB(255, 122, 0), and Other monsters RGB(255, 0, 0). 22. Disconnect - Disconnect: Delete/ Del key.
