VRO version: Has a complete ship/weapon/equipment overhaul, but is therefore not very compatible with all other mods that make changes here.&#x20;

The focus of this collection is: a hard and challengingly difficult, immersive, highly varied game that brings enough QualityOfLife, a slightly expanded (mission-friendly) map (10 sectors) and remains scalable even without major mod changes while you play. My motto: definitely no mindless boredom. The core is VRO, which brings a lot of balancing to existing and many new ships. Ossian Raiders delivers (if desired) massive space battles while DeadAir's mods boost the economy and life itself in the sectors and (with VRO) ensure that the Xenon are a force to be reckoned with.&#x20;

In addition, this compilation greatly stimulates the economy depending on the settings. There are more stations, more traffic, larger fleets and hardly any shortages of goods.

But be careful! The Xenon also benefit from a strongly boosted economy - and not just a little bit! Depending on the setting, Hatikvah, for example, can be overrun after just a few hours. So do the story mission there first, otherwise you might not have a chance to do it later.

## Here is a summary of the most important mods:

VRO: a complete overhaul of all ships and their equipment, aiming to make battles more challenging and bring more gradations in usage. There are also a bunch of new ships..

Ship Variation Expansion brings even more new ships into play - adapted to VRO

Rise of the Ossian Raider: the mod brings 2 new fractions, new sectors, new ships - and depending on the setting (ingame) also new tough battle challenges (comes again with 6.0 VRO-update)

DeadAirMods: Here comes a plethora of small to heavy changes, fully configurable via menus, that can boost the economy, lead to more confrontations with stronger Xenon and factions, more gates and and and (see https://github.com/DeadAirRT)&#x20;

Strong trading partners: Tater Traders (or Dead Traders) can earn credits independently, while the Mule Traders manage the player's own stations. Bottlenecks caused by tired vanilla traders are a thing of the past!

Removed Highways: (Optional) To make the galaxy feel "bigger", I'm doing without the highways here (accelerators are not affected). VRO also increases the travel speed of all ships, so this is somewhat balanced out.

Few little cheaty mods, but they are only there to save you hours of tiresome fiddling ... like shooting open locks, collecting crates you found one by one, permanent have an eye on wares you have on board or not  or that you can watch HOURS and DAYS how a station is built.

More life through more and better missions, a complex rewarding reputation system, professional guilds, NPCs with more souls and and and ...

A multitude of mods that make the universe more lively and "real", even if they may be a little more uncomfortable. Not everything is free anymore (taxes and wages have to be paid), not everything is allowed (the police keep a watchful eye) and not everything can be bought (immediately) with money (standing has to be built up first). However, most of this can be configured via mod menus.&#x20;

Mintor Factions Extended brings more life (stations, ships, merchants, pirates) to the small fringe factions, together with SVE also suitable ships

A colorful bouquet of mods that make the game more beautiful, varied, smoother to play and leave you more time for the essentials (the GAME) instead of completely drowning in micromanagement.

Let's not forget other sector music. The original sound is really only to switch off in the long run

# Optional mods:&#x20;

## Immersion mods that may restrict you somewhat:

- Complete Remove Highways: removes the circuit highway with all buildings
- Wear and Tear: Ships wear out in space, with enough service crew no problem, without ... well :D (configurable via menu)
- Social Standing and Citizenship: a standing system that restricts access to military equipment (you have to unlock it, so to speak)&#x20;
- Getting Paid: Wage payments to the staff&#x20;

## Cheaty mods that lead to a very high quality of life:

- Fly-by Lockbox: NO more shooting open locks!&#x20;
- Fly-by Looting: NO more tedious individual collecting of crates
- Secret Stash: NO more constant nerves because of a few drugs on board
- Reduce Station Build Times: 33% / 66% of normal time

# What should I bear in mind when starting?

### Activate (and change) the following in the mod-settings

- Rise of the Ossian Raider: Default "off". Switch to "normal" and "Gate open". In mid/endgame you can change to "hard" or more, Mk1/Mk3-flagships will bring death and destruction on their way through the galaxy.
- DeadAir ECO: Default "off". Switch to "on" and accept defaults.&#x20;
- DeadAir Jobs: Default "off". Expeditions "on" Smart Tags "Off" - else you become a very hard playthrough.
- DeadAir GOD: Default "off". Switch to "on" and "Build in Friendly Owned Sectors"
- DeadAir Fill: Default "off". Switch to "on". The length of the periods provides more or less economic boost.
- DeadAir Gate: Default "off". Handle with care if you open certain Gates.&#x20;
- DeadAir God: Default "off". Switch to "on".  It ensures a stronger and livelier economy. Quotas for all listed factions will scale up AI economy even further
- DeadAir BluePrints: Default "off". Switch to "on" if you want. Litte cheaty but saves much time (and money)
- DeadAir Dynamic Universe: Default "off".  Here you can create more conflicts, strengthen Xenon over time, activate a news system and more. To be enjoyed with caution at the beginning, rather mid/endgame\
  Caution: can turn the commonwealth into a meat grinder! :)&#x20;
- DeadAir Info Menus: Provides various information on all factions
- Foundations of Conquest and War: for experts only. Activate this in mid/endgame. You can manipulate the faction and xenon fleets in a wide field.&#x20;
- Mules: use only very sparingly for special cases, too many will impact performance
- JP\_CollectDroppedInventory: use only sparingly, too many put a strain on performance, do not allow docking

In general: read the descriptions on the mod pages (Vortex/GidHub) if you want to know more. Many mods are very complex, but can also do a lot. However, you can also just jump into the game and later deal with why the hell you don't buy that ship, Hatikvah was overrun by the Xenon and they are already knocking on your door in Argon Prime and other strange things happens :P&#x20;

## Changes in the mod list when playing without DLCs

Do not install the following mods or pick only the ones, which DLSs you own:&#x20;

## Incompatibilities:&#x20;

- Due to the various new sectors, it will only work with the standard map.
- New ship mods must be adapted to VRO

X4 Hard Times (VRO)

(V7.1) Full ship/equip-overhaul with VRO. A mod collection that offers a hard and rather challenging game that may not give you much time to relax. A lot can be configured via mod menus . Lots of new content, ships, QoL plus 2 handful new sectors.
