Planet Placement Tool (1.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Tools

Frequent mapper, _237th_SC_Com_Bly, has given all of us a tool for making our own Galactic Conquest planets. This rar file contains an image of the galaxy with a grid over it in order to help you all plot the coordinates of your own planets. If you're looking to make some new planets for the Galactic Conquest mod and are not sure exactly where to put them, then this will be a very helpful tool.
[line] This can be used to easy place a planet at the place you want it. This requirs word to use. Open the Word doc and see how easy it is to use. Trandosha (1.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Bly does it again for us with a wonderful map of Transosha complete with Trandoshans (It's just a bunch of Bossk's, but I can get over that). Each team has some clear advantages and disadvantages which can mean victory or defeat. It's all the little things that come together to make this map nice. Wookie slaves, Trandoshan slavers, an abandoned Imperial base, a cantina with a small settlement next to it... Although I've never been to Trandosha (I've got plans for a trip there next summer), I feel this does a good job representing it. I'd get rid of the Banthas and make the whole place look a bit less rural, but now I'm just finding things to complain about. Another nice map Bly. the_stag

The Frozen Lake is a ground skirmish map for Forces of Corruption (not Empire at War) by _237th_SC_Com_Bly. This map is centered around a frozen lake on Polus with the several mines surrounding it. Bly's attention to detail in this map is superb; the ground looks great and the props have been placed in a realistic manner. The ice on the lake looks very nice with a realistic looking reflection on its surface. The texturing is nothing less than excellent and he has made sure to include a lot of height variation to give a hilly look to the map. Needless to say, the composition and detail of this map really makes this stand out from the rest of his maps so far. Definitely worth a download.

The Frozen Lake is a delightful map made by _237th_SC_Com_Bly. It displays a vast improvement over his previous maps. He makes fairly good use of textures and blends them in to create a nice natural and aesthetic pleasing map. The nature and fog settings are set appropriately however snow might of made a better choice instead of rain. The only things the author could improve on with his mapping technique is making the playable terrain a bit more dynamic, utilizing more textures and blending in the ice with the surrounding textures. Overall the layout is set up well and offers some equal game-play while maintaining a natural feel. The indigenous villages offer a nice twist to the game-play of this map. This is definitely a worthy download and will make for a fun and relaxing skirmish game.

The Frozen Sea (1.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Another beautiful map from Bly. This one centers around a large island in the middle of a frozen sea (in case you forgot to read the title). The main island is home to both teams and their bases. Surrounding the island are several smaller islands that house large build pads, mineral processors, shield generators, and turbo laser turrets. This is where the bulk of the initial fighting will take place as each team vies for money and protection of that money. But don't leave your base undefended because there is a mountain pass connecting the two bases that will allow your enemy easy access without proper defense. The photos don't really do this map justice. So check it out, check it outers. Category: Maps

Inspired by a Map from Republic Commando this map shows a canyon system from Geonosis. The Creator recommends using a Clone Wars Mod for this but i disagree. There's nothing better than watching loads of Imperial Speeder bikes flitting down the canyon system. While the actual canyon system isn't the prettiest topographical map i've ever seen I'd still recommend a download to try it out. ~Fosh

Tantive IV (v2.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Tantive IV is a ground map that was made for Empire at War (not Forces of Corruption, though compatible) by _237th_SC_Com_Bly. This map pits two factions against each other in a recreation of the interior of the Tantive IV. Overall, this is a very well done map. The interior is nicely detailed with metal plating and different props, such as power boxes, scattered around as you might expect them to be in a space ship. Only half of the ship's exterior is represented through rotated props, but the resemblance to the Tantive IV is very striking. Most of each faction's base structures are grouped together at each end of the ship, but there are a few structures like the communications array placed above as a testament to the ship's exterior design. Though the map is excellent overall, there are a few things that the creator might want to look at. There are some flickering texture issues with the metal plating and the ground and the area with the planet texture is at the same level as the ship's floor. However, these are two minor issues that don't affect the gameplay very much, so go ahead and download! [img] [/img]

Tantive IV (3.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Tantive IV is a newer version of the old map for Empire at War. Like the previous version, this map is not for Forces of Corruption. It's good to see that the creator took user criticism to heart, but there are still some flaws with the map, as well as new ones created along the way. First off, Bly has improved the playability of the map by adding buildable structures that skirmish maps need and has fixed the texture flickering issue on the ground. However, he had also removed most of the propping that made the map look like the interior of a futuristic warship. He switched the texture of Coruscant's surface with a space texture, but the texture is reflective, contains a galaxy map, and has abnormally large stars. The skydome he selected was too large, so that ruins the effect when you go to the edges of the map. If you want an improved version of the map that has the skirmish gameplay, but a downgrade in visuals, then this map would be ideal for you.

Tantive IV (4.0 Final)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Tantive IV is a newer version of the old map for Empire at War. Like the previous version, this map is not for Forces of Corruption. Bly's latest version of his Tantive IV map has shown considerable improvement from the earlier renditions. The ground outside the ship decks is now invisible and there is a space skydome placed on the map. More props can be seen inside the ship, though there's is just the one texture inside the ship. Several fighters were placed outside of the Tantive IV in order to give it a space battle feel, but since those are static, it just feels fake. On the other hand, the exterior of the ship has been given more detail, which might please some players. Although there are a few visual flaws, the gameplay is still working and can be quite fun. Give this map a try if you ever wanted to have an indoor ship battle!

Ryloth (0.8)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Nice canyons and prop placement make this map congruent with what Ryloth was made to look like in the vanilla version of the game. The bridge at the bottom of the map has some problems surrounding it, but nothing a little work can't fix. There are Imperial forces that have been mostly destroyed at a landing zone. The problem is there are some survivors but they can't be controlled or destroyed. There is the same problem in the middle of the map where some Twileks and defensive structures are. Although those are less noticible because you can't get to them since they are up in the mountains. The rest of the map is very playable, as we have come to expect from Bly. There's a Twilek base in the southwest corner of the map and the Rebels and Imperials are separated by two canyons that have capturable turbolasers and landing zones for fortification. the_stag

My favorite part of this map is that when you play with three teams, it's a solid fight over the resources. The planet Ryloth is on the far left of the map and an asteroid belt surrounds is protected with laser turrets. There are a couple mines in the asteroid belt, with a merchant space dock and a sensor node closer to the planet. It's a rather small map which should lead to some quick battles. Raxus Prime Junkyard (1.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Raxus Prime Junkyard is a space skirmish map created by _237th_SC_Com_Bly. This map has a three bases in well chosen spots. The map features several open corridors between floating junk, nebulae and asteroids in which you can navigate your ships with ease. This also allows for choke points to be created to an extent. The smaller amount of mines requires you to spend your money carefully if you wish to win the battle. The odd shipyard and pirate base are an excellent addition allowing players to choose how they play the map instead of mindlessly spamming ships. Overall this is a well laid out map with some interesting lighting angles. Consider downloading this map for a fun skirmish game.

New GC is an aptly named mod for Empire at War (not Forces of Corruption) by _237th_SC_Com_Bly. This is a single XML file that changes the Alderaan GC to an Inner Rim scenario. The scenario is relatively small, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Small GCs mean less lag and easier focus on your planets. This GC scenario is objective based with the Rebels attempting to save a pirate leader and the Empire trying to take out a Rebel hero. If you wanted a change to the Alderaan GC, then download this file and try it out!

Category: Maps

I can't remember if I've seen a map expanded from the from the single player game before. This opens up the possibilities for so many more maps. Here we've got the original Mon Calamari, with a huge addition. The map itself has two bases on fortified docks over the water. Each base has a launching ramp for launching your ski boats... er, launching attacks with repulsor lift vehicles into a large area of water. The bases are also connected via an Atoll which serves as one big choke point for land only vehicles and infantry. The need for repulsor lift vehicles will require some different strategies than usual. Good work Bly. the_stag

Tired of the usual Rebel armada pounding away at a Consortium space station when you start up the game? This map should solve that problem for you. In my Lost town of Noypi v1.0 review I inferred that the map needed some life. Well, the town is still very much dead, but this map has been given a new sense of life. It's almost a new map entirely so I am going to review it as such. First off, what you did with the mountains is awesome. Both teams' shield generators are nestled up on the mountain divided by the peak and only accessible by infantry. In the northern part of the map there are more mountain trails that hide resource pads, and a sensor array. Two Rancors keep watch over the mountain foothills, so a quick run into the mountains may be harder than usual. This is better than the v2.0 I was hoping for. I look forward to your next map. the_stag

Lost town of Noypi (1.0)

by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

At first glance this map struck me as incredibly boring, an endless desert with some resource pads and abandoned building in the middle. However it did get better as I played through. And yet, there are still some things that leave me puzzled. When you look at the map, there are giant areas that appear to be lakes, but are sandy like the areas that surround them. I decided that this is quicksand and should be tread upon. Additionally, the northern part of the map has a more rocky appearance with trails on it. These trails can only be seen by their different colors on the map and not by the surrounding land. I'd like to see a bit more something done with this map. A v2.0 could really bring this town to life. the_stag

This skirmish map of the jungle world Kashyyyk is a conversion from the stock GC map. The map contains 2 bases, several rosource pads, and a hostile wookie population. Creator Description:
[line] This is the same map of Kashyyyk as in GC, the only difference is that there are now 2 bases; 1 Rebel, 1 Imperial. The Empire have a large base whereas the Rebels have a smaller base but the turrets are already placed; though if destroyed they can't be rebuilt. Walls will defend your turrets. Both teams have a Shutter field generator and a Mining complex. The Wookies are hostile to everyone that passes them. by 237thSCComBly

Category: Maps

Island War is a map by _237th_SC_Com_Bly for Empire at War (not Forces of Corruption). This map places two players on a group of islands with base structures scattered among the different islands. Overall, the map could use some work. There's no skydome at all, and the default water is used for this map. Texturing is pretty bland and odd in some places. This map has a combination of metal, sand, and grass all mixed together into the blender. You have a sandy bank, but then there's an area with a grass texture painted all over it under the water. Prop placement is equally perplexing. Trees are randomly scattered in the water, turbolaser towers are in the water, and you have trees on metal. This map could offer some nice island hopping gameplay, but the visuals on this map need some improvement.

This explains it quite nicely:
[line] A map of the inside of Admiral Thrawns ISD, thats why i putted bossk, he is delivering the artifact but jabba wants it too. The hangar is fully compleet, elevators, transports, refull tank, space. Lots of hostile imperials in the map. Plus a second floor at 2 spots!!! next time, the hole map will have a second floor. The way to win: make your enemy confused by going from hall to hall and hide in sideways, get to the enemy base and they will not know which hall you come from, but in order to do that, avoid enemy patrols. Sidewayss!!![line]
Has anyone reading this played Dark Forces? Anyone? I feel so old... Regardless, this level reminds me just a tiny bit of the Executor level. All in all this map is not too bad, it does get a little funny looking after a while. Seeing rebel speeders zip around the interior of the Star Destroyer, and bombing runs inside looks a little funny, but it's part of the game so that can be suspended in disbelief. The real problem is that the A.I. wasn't made to work in thin hallways with tight corners. The computer opponent will attack my units and structures while there is a wall blocking them. My units would do the same thing whenever I didn't set waypoints or guide them. Neither team has the heavy vehicle factory, so that helps, but it seems that infantry only would be more suitable. Check out these helpful hints.
