Disclaimer

  • This is my second attempt at my first collection. Bear with me, please, and feel free to let me know of any issues.
  • Currently, I haven't finished my first playthrough with this collection, so I don't know yet if it won't break in the future quests. I will update the collection as needed as I advance through the game.

Main features

  • This is a short and simple collection that adds some quality of life to the gameplay, some cheaty mods, and some quest-specific mods.
  • Most changes made to the game are subtle.
  • The mods in this collection have minimum dependency with one another, allowing you to choose exactly which mods you want to install from this list. All mods in the collection are optional, after all.
  • Most of the mods in this collection can be installed and uninstalled mid playthrough without issue (AT YOUR OWN RISK. Read below for details).

Before you start

  • Dijkstra's Doppler hasn't been updated to Next-Gen yet. I will be updating this collection as soon as I know if it works as intended or not. However, I can confirm that it won't break your game thus far.
  • Although Succubus And Doppler Mutagens Rewarded has not been updated to Next-Gen yet, it works.

Here is a list of the mods that are most difficult or downright impossible to install/uninstall mid playthrough with this collection. You can read the instructions for each mod, though. It is hard to say which specific mod (of the ones that can be uninstalled safely) broke my game when I was testing uninstalls:

Requirements

  • Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone DLCs required.

Best practices

  • Always use W3 Script Merger (also included in your Vortex download when you start managing this game with it) after installing and enabling any new mods into your game.
  • Always read the instructions and descriptions that the mod creators have provided for each of the mods in this list. Specially if you are planning to install or uninstall something mid playthrough.
  • Some mod creators specify that it's safe to install or uninstall their mod in the middle of the playthrough. But unless it has been specified, try not to install or uninstall any mods in the middle of a playthrough.
  • If you do end up wanting/needing to add or remove mods mid playthrough, make sure to make a back up file of your saves.
  • NEVER install two versions of the same mod. Use the one that adjusts to the mods that you have.

Some Notes

  • Install either Perks Always Active OR Perks Always Active - Additional Perks Compatible, depending on if you have installed Additional Perks or not. Don't install both.
  • If you install DLC - Events, you may want to also install DLC - Events - Quest Journal Category, though it is not necessary.
  • You can install the Force Controller UI mod if you use a controller and if your game is not giving you the adequate UI for it. But it is not necessary to install it as it won't change how the game reads your controller.

Some issues you may run into

  • If the AutoLoot All-in-One NG Update mod menu is missing within your game, you can fix it by adding the line AHDAutoLootConfig.xml; to the files [Witcher 3 folder]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx11filelist.txt and [Witcher 3 folder]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx12filelist.txt
  • If the Auto Apply Oils (Next Gen Compatible) mod menu is missing within your game, you can fix it by adding the line modAutoApplyOils.xml; to the files [Witcher 3 folder]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx11filelist.txt and [Witcher 3 folder]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx12filelist.txt
  • If you install all of the mods, Vortex may prompt you to install Witcher 3 Mod Limit Patcher. Do so. Vortex will provide you with the mod. The less mods you install the less likely are you to get this mod, but I haven't ran into any issues with the patch so far.
